Viewing trail cam
I would have given this camera a five rating if the safety cable holes had been more user friendly like the old ones. I have four of the older style and they are easy to put a safety cable through. I like the Moultrie cameras that have the viewing screen on them. This was the newest one that I could find that had that feature.
Would I recommend this to a friend or family member? Yes
Pros
  • Easy to Use
  • Simple to Set Up
  • Looks Good
Cons
  • Bad Design
  • The safety cable holes are not as easy to use as the older Mountrie camers. To me it is a big draw back from the previos ones.

game camera
I like the camera and the only draw back I found was the style of the security cable holes. It makes it harder to secure than the older Moultrie cameras. The screen to view the photos is nice.

  • The safety cable holes are not of a good design. The older Moultrie cameras are easier to secure.

Has some nice features
I like this trailcam, but I would like it better if battery life was better. I have an old Bushnell TrophyCam. 8 AA alkaline batteries last 6 months, this M-999i, 8 AA last about 6 weeks. The IR flash is a lot stronger on the M-999i and the image quality is better. Beware that the 20MP image settings is just a bigger image, not a better image. Stick with the 10MP setting to save space. The onboard display and aiming feature are a plus too. Very useful when setting up the cam. All in all, it works well, but sucks up batteries.
Would I recommend this to a friend or family member? Yes
Pros
  • Simple to Set Up
  • Quality Construction
  • Strong IR flash
Cons
  • High battery drain

Returning for POOR battery usage.
Got this as a Christmas present (2018) to watch what types of wildlife roam our newly acquired country property. This is my first trail cam so I have nothing to compare it to. Daytime and night time picture quality seems good. The set up was not crazy difficult but took some reading to figure out. The only reason that I'm returning it is because it eats batteries like candy. I started off with Energizer's which lasted 2 days which recovered about 50 +/- pictures. Most were of vehicles due to improper aim on my part. The next batteries were Duracell which only lasted 1 1/2 days with 15-20 pictures most of which were of myself and dog with a different aim point. After reading reviews online I decided to buy Energizer Lithium batteries and give it one more try. The Lithium batteries lasted exactly 7 days. At $15 per 12 Lithium batteries (it only uses 8 at a time) lasting only 7 days I decided to send it back and try another brand. Temperature's ranged from 20's during night and 30's - 40's daytime.
Would I recommend this to a friend or family member? No
Pros
  • Easy to Use
  • Safe
  • Simple to Set Up
  • Looks Good
  • Sturdy
Cons
  • Eats batteries (even lithium) like candy.
