A very happy customer

I have seen these units advertise for a while now but was scheptical of how they work. I waited till a couple of friends bought some of a different brand and they seemed to love theirs so I gave in and bought one of these Lifesmart 1500w with 6 elements with copper heat exchangers from another company for $260 plus another $40 after shipping and taxes. I shopped around and found that Home Depot, Sam's Club and Sears all sell this unit online only but even higher. About a month later we found these with no shipping for a $100 less than what I paid for my first one online so I bought 5 for ourselves and family members. So far everyone that got one is happy with them. My aunt even had me to order her another one but the price on that one has gone up $15 more than the first five but it was still cheaper than the other three companies.

We have a gas heat furnace and gas logs but I have been trying to use the gas logs as much as possible because so much heat goes out the flue when the furnace is running and propane is so much higher now than it was when I built my house. Since we put one of these heaters in out bedroom and one downstairs, I keep my funace set so low that it never kicks on and the gas logs don't run as much as they have in the past. They might not be any cheaper than running a regular heater 1500 watt but I'm not burning as much gas, the wood cabinet doesn't get hot and the thing blows heat out with the quiet running fan inside it, and they also kick off and don't run continuously. I have to say they are perfect for all of our situations.

"Buying the Hype" ?

The Hype you read in advertisements on this type of heater about cheaper heating cost is not true!

Ran this heater and another regular electric heater tracking the power use.

Both use 1.5 kw per hour running on high (1.5 x 24 hours = 36 or less kw per day). You will use high if outside temperature

is below 40 degrees. The only difference is the LifeSmart has a stronger / louder fan and outside

cabinet stays cool to touch. Lifesmart is also big enough to use as an end table if you need another end table.

Lifesmart or any other one like this at a cost of $150.00 or less verses another regular heater at a cost of $80.00 or less

I would go with the Lifesmart type. Lifesmart is equal to or better than the other high end brand but you have to understand

the cost to operate is not less than any other 1500w heater.

Lifesmart would be safer around children or an elderly person who may bump into it (cool exterior).

VERY Disappointed

I bought this with some doubt and I guess the dramtic price drop proves the point. This heater is unable to reach the set teperature (68 degrees) in a 500 sq ft room. This includes me running the primary heat source set at 66 degrees. I let the room go down to 45 degrees at night so I use both heat sources to get it back to temperature. The Lifesmart can never take over and runs non-stopever getting above 66 degrees.

Additionally, after just several weeks of occassional use the fan is making a tremendous amount of noise. I will look into returning this thing but I fear shipping charges will cost me more than just junking it.

Certainly not the experience I had hoped for.

Glad I bought it!

I bought this unit for my 500 sq ft mobile home. I live in NH and I use propane heat so i was hoping to cut down on my propane use. Well since getting this unit I am very pleased to say that my furnace never runs.....it has gotten down into the low 20's already and i leave this heater on 68* on the low setting and it keeps the whole place that temp. I also run a med size fan on low to circulate the air around the house. As for the other review on here stating that this heater doesn't even warm thier 500 sq ft space, well all I can say to that is mine works great and i have a mobile home and mobile homes are very hard to heat. I have only had mine for about 3 weeks so i am not sure what the electricity bill will look like, but i'm not using any propane so its a trade off. I did have an issue with it today, it stopped working and was flashing E1...I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it has been working fine since...not sure what E1 means but am waiting to hear back from the manufacture to find out. Other than that, works great!

Buy It!

This heater was so impresive that I now have two of them. They heat a large area and cut off automatically when they reach the set temperature. My heat pump has hardly cut on even when outside temperatures have dipped down into the twenties.

Good Heater

Overall this is a very good heater. We used Eden Pure heaters for several years and this works as well if not better. Operation is simple and the design is attractive.

Good Item, and safe

My heater works well, and I am happy with it. It does display an E1 in the temp display. I do not know what this means, and it is not in the instruction bookley. Can any one tell me what it means? The unit shuts off when the display is there, so I believe it is an "ERROR 1" message. But I don't know why.

Nasty Red/Brown color not what we ordered.

Works well, the color is very dark ( we did not get the lite Oak that we ordered ). I would NOT RECommend it because of the color. Stays cool but warmed our room. No trouble so far.

VMI Nubie is Happy

If the truth be told, my review is favorable. It's a portable unit that can suppliment my home heating system, but not replace it. Aftter all, I am in upstate NY and the price of home heating oil is much higher than it should be. We set it around 74 degrees when we are home, and use the economy setting (68 degrees) when we're away. It does make a blowing noise when it's on, but we easily got used to it. Resist the temptation to stack or store anything on top of it, it is small and sturdy, but respect that it's a small heater. As with anything that can be used or abused, I think I made a smart purchase and look forward to many years of use.

On going study of the LS PP LS 1500-6

I have a "Solarcrete", concrete, super-insulated, 6,000 square foot home.  My garage is 1,000 sq. ft. with 14' ceilings.  The outside temp was around 20 degrees and the inside of my garage, (utilizing the two units I purchased), was around 62 degrees.  I brought them inside and used one on the first floor.  My furnace has not kicked on since I started utilizing the single unit, (it's about 72 inside the house).  Yes, they work great in my home.  Again, it's important to note, this is a super insulated home with no leaks around the windows or doors,  Your results may differ.

Now, here's the one thing I didn't like, the price is all over the place.  I could have saved myself $15.00 per unit by going to eBay; same company, same unit, same free shipping; fifteen bucks less, though.  None-the-less, I like my units and they will serve me well.

All that said, I have not utilized these units for a full month, therefore, I don't know how these units will affect my electric bill.  My most recent bill, (I live 50 miles NW of Chicago), was $109.00.  I will know how these units have influenced my electric bill and I hope to be able to report same to you in a month.

Pleased with our new heater

Much better product than the Eden Pure that we used for two winters, having to replace/repair three times. Less costly and much more efficient product. So far, we are very pleased with this heater. Like some of the features that EP didn't have. Definitley a better product.

The garage warmer

The heater is being used in our garage. The wife is a smoker but doesn't smoke indoors. Now that the weather is turning colder she has moved from the patio to the garage. The heater is replacing a kerosene heater and so for it is great. Very easy to set up; the instructions are simple. Not sure about the electric being consumed by the heater as we haven't had it long enough. It is real nice not to have the odor of kerosene in the garage. Do not miss the residue from the kerosene heater. I would highly reccomend this heater to anyone in need of  alternate heat, are one to help out the furnace or heating unit. We are thinking about purchasing another one for the house to replace the small free standing oil units we purchased a few years ago which consume a lot of electricity. The heater is attractive it looks like a piece of furniture.
