Great saw if cosmetics overlooked

I bought this refurbished chainsaw because it looked like a great deal at this price and I just had a 40' fir tree break in half and drop in my back yard.

The bottom line is that the saw performed admirably dropping the other half of the tree and bucking up the trunk so that I could split it for firewood.  I still consider this purchase to be a great deal.

The reason I couldn't rated it more highly is because I have a higher cosmetic expectations for a factory refurbished product. (These did not affect function)

The saw arrived in a reltively plain, craft style brown box.   That's fine.  The body was in a plastic bag.   Pulling it out the entire underside was soaked with oil, presumably chain oil.   I guess its better to be over lubricated than under, but it was a bit of a mess.  I cleaned it up with some paper towels.  Not a big deal, but not a great first impression.

The bar looked slightly used, but no big deal.  There were also some minor scuffs and scratches on the body.  Also no big deal.  Basically after the first use these would look that way anyway.

What I didn't appreciate was that there was a number hand written on the body in what looks like black sharpie.  I consider that a defacement and think the factory should have either cleaned that off (if possible) so that portion of the body looked the same as the rest.  Or they should have replaced that part with one that hadn't been defaced.

If it weren't for that writing I would have given it 4 stars.  If the bar also looked new and the body wasn't sopping with oil, I probably would have given it 5.

For the price it was still a great deal.  If these conditions were disclosed ahead of time I probably would have still purchased the saw and then rated it higher because it would have met or exceeded all of my expectations.

P.S.  I should also add as somebody new to chainsaws, I didn't realize that there was a small plastic spacer between the bar and the body that is supposed to be removed.  I couldn't figure out why the chain would get tighter as I finished tightening the nut.  The problem was this spacer.  I presume it was for shipping or something.  Upon close inspection it does have the word "remove" molded into it.  This part wasn't mentioned or pictured in the assembly instructions.

Not running yet

The saw came shipped and on time perfectly, I assembled it ... easy job. After many pulls the saw starts. I test cut some logs, cuts great. Saw will not idel ... stalls then back to pulling way to many times to get it running again. Cut some more, works great. Put the saw down ... will not idel stalls, rubbed hands raw starting this little  ....

I'm told take it to my dealer .. 90 day ... Oh boy here we go. I guess I have no way out of this???

I am unable to see other reviews on the site? dead links ... why? hope this gets posted.

Great Saw! It is like day & night in comparison of others!

In answer:

How do I use the product or what do I use it for?

Well, I cut trees, limbs, and brush.  Also, use to cut logs for firewood for the entire winter -- meaning I cut 'cords' of wood!  live on arces of land and can do a lot with the 435 size -- I am small person so I do not like too heavy a saw and this is just right for me, others may like the heavier more cutting edge 455 forester farm type. I have used and bought many other brands that I will not mention but they were junk! -- This is like using a tool that knows what to do without asking it to do it!  It is amazing!

AS YOU CAN TELL ... I love the saw and will certainly continue to buy with this company, they have great items and well refurbished!  Thanks to "www.vminnovations.com" -- I can own a Husqvarna. Price was great!

I do not have a "CON" or a bad thing to say about this saw, I can not think of anything that I would change or do not like about it !

Buy one and you too can be rewarded by a finely tuned well made saw! I have used it all day, just got it in the last 2 days and it runs like a top! I would buy from "www.vminnovations.com" though ... not all know how to refurbish saws this well, like new!

Good Luck to all,

rcg

Paul's Chainsaw

This saw is fantastic--easy to start after reading owner's manual, light, powerful for a home user's perspective, quality is great!!  I cetainly would purchase another saw from this manufacturer if the need arose. The delivery was quickly performed, the price was reasonable, and assistance from vendor was greatly appreciated!! I will purchase additional equipment from this vendor in the future when required !!

Excellent Value Great Running Saw

The Husqvarna 435 is an excellent value when purchased from VM Inovations.  You can't beat the refurbished price.  When I took the saw out of the box it looked practically new.  I put the bar and chain on right away and started cutting the cord and a half of hard oak that I have for my wood burning stove.  The power in this saw is impressive and it is fairly light weight.  The anti-vibration handle on this saw is a nice plus.  I was able to use the saw for a hour without any pain in my hands.  My hands would hurt after about 15 min when I would use my Poulan Wood Shark.

What I liked about buying the saw from VM Inovations was that I called customer service before I bought the saw and was able to talk to a person.  Just hold a little while they picked up both times that I called.  This first time I asked about the saw and their warranty, which is 90 days, if anything is wrong you get to take it to a dealer to have them check it out for free.  I thought this was great.  The second time I called I asked about my order.  Both times they were helpful and more than happy to talk to me.  Delivery was very fast.  I ordered on a Thursday night, late.  I received the saw Saturday afternoon.

I read other reviews about this saw, where they said it would idle and run good, but was very difficult to start.  And guess what, they were right.  (At first, until I changed something.)  When I tried to start the saw I followed the directions exactly 4 times in a row.  Each time, I ended up pulling and pulling and the chainsaw not starting.  To get the saw to start I had to hold the throttle wide open and pull several times and it started!  (But this is not the thing that I changed.)  Once started it idled and ran like a dream.  What puzzled me was how hard it was to start, because I read other reviews that said how easily this saw started.  And then I read an excellent piece of advice on a chainsaw forum.  "Use high octane gas and Seafoam to help get rid of any moisture," (paraphrased).  When I did this, the saw started exactly per the instructions and immediately.  A couple of pulls and it took right off.  What I changed was the gas that I was using.  I had used 87 octane gas which is the lowest octane recommended for this saw.  I switched to 91 octane gas and added the Seafoam and that did the trick.  Higher octane gas is recommended in the manual.  I just can't believe the difference it actually made.

Hands down this is just a great saw, and the price just makes it that much better!  I would definitely recommend the Husqvarna 435 to anyone who wants a smaller saw, 41cc, but also wants the power.

Not Quite Right!

Unpacked the chainsaw and it looked in used but good condition.  However when I tried to start it, I quickly found out the recoil starter was broken and it would be impossible to start.  I cannot for the life of me figure out how this could make it through any "refurbished" process since it is impossible to even try to start, let alone use for anything other than a paperweight.  Even as a layman, I could tell that there was a problem with this saw!  Customer Service directed me to a repair shop 20 miles away, and the saw has been there for 2 weeks. I called yesterday and they are still waiting on parts and I was told to plan on least another week!  At this rate I make be out of my warranty before I ever actually get the saw.  This has not been a good experience and based on the level of "quality control" and would not recommend this product or company.

Bad idea, buyer beware

Against my better judgement I decided to try out the refurbished Husqvarna 435 chainsaw.  The first issue was assemby.  You have to install the chain bar and chain.  That took about an hour since the chain brake built into the chain cover kept engaging and so the chain wouldn't turn freely even though the brake handle was pulled back into the disengage position.  I finally was able to get the cover mostly on and engage the brake and then disengage it and then the cover would fit and the chain could be moved by hand and the tension set.  After that fiasco I decided against better judgement again and gassed it up and filled the chain lube resevoir.  Got it started and disengaged and the chain started moving at a high rate of speed at idle.  I immediately killed it and rechecked the manual to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong.   I was following the directions exactly and tried it again.  Same thing and in the few seconds that it was running with the brake on the braking mechanism got so hot that it started to smoke.  I shut it off again and the braking mechanism was too hot to touch.  So that was enough for me.  A few posts on the web forums mentioned that having the idle set too high can cause the chain to move at idle with the brake off.  So maybe that's the problem - who knows.  It takes a special screwdriver/wrench to adjust the idle (not included) so it's definitely something that should be factory set.

So, I'll be calling VMInnovations tomorrow and requesting a full refund.  I rarely post reviews, but felt compelled her since it is a chainsaw.  So, my advice is buyer beware unless you have like Vegas odds or you're a lumberjack with mad set of tools.

Buyer Beware-It might not work

This chainsaw looked good and clean when I got it, but it wouldn't start. I took it to a husky dealer, and it took him about 5 minutes to tell me that the motor was completely burned out, and that it never would have started. It also cost me 25 bucks to look at it just to tell me that (which wasn't covered under the warranty plus the cost of a new plug). I don't blame VMI directly for sending me a dud, because they are just a reseller, but it does show that they do not test these chainsaws before they sell them, which is poor policy. I mailed back the saw and they gave me a full refund, but doing business with VMI cost me several hours of my time, the gas mileage I had to haul that dud of a chainsaw around to the dealer and fedex, and the 30 dollars from the dealer to look at it. I don't necessarily think all there refurbs are like this, but buyer beware.

My biggest waste of money so far this year

Wouldn't run. Took it to an Autorized repair shop. It sat there for 3 weeks waiting for parts. Finally got it back, soaking wet, rusted chain and all...still won't start.

Make sure and put a scabbard over the bar when using it for a door stop, so you don't cut you toe.

Disappointed
Very disappointed in this saw.  It arrived covered in oil.  It was relatively easy to attach the bar and chain, but it would not start after several attempts.  I ended up taking it to a small engine repair shop and the clutch was frozen.  Plus the oil pump did not work properly.  After a $50.00 charge it appears to be working now.  I guess you get what you pay for.  If you pay for junk you get junk.

Excellent Product for a Great Price!

VMInnovations shipped my Husqvarna 435 within an hour and a half after purchase, and it took only two days to arrive!  The saw arrived packaged well and in overall good condition for a refurbished product.  There are a few minor scuffs on the bottom and the bar had some wear on the painted lettering, however otherwise it looks great, and most importantly it functions fantastically!

Following the directions, the saw cold started on the fourth pull (three with choke on, fourth with choke off).  It fired up easily and idled nicely.  I limbed and bucked an entire fallen pine in the back yard, probably ~20' with ~14" base diameter in less than a half hour (not including clean-up)!!!  The 435 cut through the soft wood like a hot knife through butter, throwing only nice wood chips (blade arrived sharp and ready).   It NEVER bogged, and always felt like it had plenty of power to spare.

Breaking this down into two parts:

The Husqvarna 435 in its own right is a wonderful saw!  It's perfect for suburban home owners with a bit of land, or even for larger land owners who want a light weight, yet powerful saw to manage their small to moderate tasks!  The saw has a GREAT power to weight ratio, and feels underrated if you ask me (it's rated at 'only' 2.2hp, however it definitely outperforms some other brands I've used claiming up to .5hp more). It loves to scream! :-)

The refurbished 435 from VMInnovations is an excellent value!  The key is to expect what is described; a refurbished product...  From my experience, and from talking to others, the saw may arrive with some minor cosmetic blemishes, but it should function like new.  I'm VERY happy with mine, and the price was hard to beat!

Also of note:  VMInnovations is on top of their game!  As mentioned in the beginning, they ship RAPIDLY!  They keep you posted on every step of your order status.  Customer service was a cinch to reach for me, and the representative was friendly and knowledgeable.  Great company!

Outstanding buy!

I have owned just about every brand of chainsaw made. In my honest opinion for less than $350, this is the best I own. My $600+ stihl being my favorite "large bar" saw. This Husqvarna has plenty of power, is lightweight, and is perfect for limbing and cutting down small to medium sized trees. I have ran about 8 tanks of gas through it so far without any issues. When it is cold it is a slight bit "tempermental" about cranking unless you get the choke set "just-so". It idles great once it has had a couple of minutes to warm up. I read several reviews stating that the chain the saw comes with is dull. Knowing this in advance, I simply sharpened the chain before first use. Not really a big deal for anyone that has more than beginner's experience with saws. Takes 5-10 minutes to make sure the saw cuts smooth and doesn't burn the bar up. I wonder if some of the negative comments on this saw "lacking power" or "bogging down" are simply a dull chain. It sure makes a huge diffrence when your chain is sharp!

The one I received looked almost new. Just a few scuffs on the bar, and a small scatch on the bottom. I have also read a few comments about the saws arriving with "oil/bar oil leaked out in the box". In my experience (about 32 years of chainsaw experience) they all leak to some extent. It should be expected of a "refurb". All in all, for less than $150 this saw is a fantastic buy, and money well spent. If you are in the market for a saw and don't want to spend a wad of money you should seriously consider puchasing this one. (I know I'm glad I did!)

This was my first purchase from VMI. I can honestly say it wont be my last! Fantastic prices, fast shipping, great customer support. What more could one realistically ask for?

Very Useful Little Saw
I was somewhat sceptical after reading the reviews indicating it was hard to start.  I have not found that to be the case.  I have only started it about 10 times with varying down time from a few minutes to two weeks and it has never taken more than 4 pulls.  Two bits of advice - use premium gas in your mix and when starting cold after pumping the primer, pull the starter with the choke on only until you hear the first pop, then take the choke off.  It usually starts immediately after that.  A warm starting tip is to click on the choke, but don't pull the starter before releasing the choke - this sets a fast idle that makes it easy to start.  I love this little saw and highly recommend it for light to medium duty work.

Very satisfied

Second saw purchased from Innovations.  455 rancher for the heavy cutting, now a lighter 435 for brush work.

Do not be afraid of a refurbished unit.  Easy assembly, just need an extra chain and scabbard to be a complete package.

Nevertheless, good purchase for the money!

Good saw, great price

This saw is great.  It is a little hard to start and you have to pull it quite a bit, but once it is running it never bogs down.  Light enough to do a big job and enough power to cut most anything.  Great saw.

Would not start

Chainsaw looked as good as expected for a refurbished unit. But after filling with gas, it would not start. Called VMInnovations and they informed me I should get it fixed locally since it is under warranty. I decided to go with that approach since I couldn't trust that a replacement saw would have any better quality control. Once fixed by qualified Husqevarna repair shop, it should last a long time.

The discounted price for the refurb unit was not worth the hassle of having to take the newly purchased saw to a repair shop. Even though it should not cost me any more cash, it is leaving me without the saw.

saw is great but read the directions on how to start it. it is different than my old saw or any of my dads saws. but once you figure it out it starts within 3 pulls cold and 2 pulls warm.  a little less power than i would expect for a 41cc saw

Happy in Muldoon

I have 20 acres of trees I need to maintain on my homestead. So I don't have time to do tool repair. The chain saw worked right out of the box. The only suggestion is you include instruction telling dummies like me to remove spacer before mounting bar.

Great saw

The saw looked new except for a few light scratches on the bottom. It took only a few minutes to put the bar and chain on, fill the chain oil tank and fill it with pre-mixed gas. I set the choke to on, primed the bulb 7 times and pulled the rope. The saw fired once, I set the choke to run, pulled the rope and it was running like a top. I cut about 10 or so 8" logs to size for my woodburning furnace in no time. This saw is great. I have a craftsman which is actually a poulan with a different label. That saw is junk.  I've also had to try and repair my father in-laws Poulan woodshark and that is a piece of junk as well. I highly recommend the Husqvarna 435, at this price it is a steal and only a bit more expensive than a Poulan of the same size.

Decent. Probably worth it.

Just bought it.  Cut down a queen palm. Cuts pretty good.  It bound up, but that's typical with any chainsaw on a palm tree.  Mine started right up once I got the juices flowing through it.  Light weight.  So far so good.  Can't speak about it's durability; I've only had it 3 weeks and cut one time.  I think it'll do just fine...the key, as with anything, is taking care of your tool.  Clean it, lube it, blow it out; should last a long time if I don't get stupid with it.

Quality Saw for a decent price.

This saw is ideal for around house use, plenty of power for myself. I'll be using it for cutting fire wood for the winter months. Runs great, idles fine, no issue so far. Also this saw comes with a new chain like it should. If you think you got a dull chain I would check to make sure you have the teeth  going in the rite rotation.  I was a liittle disappointed that the saw didn't come with a chain guard, would have been nice. That and I wishes I had purchased the saw from the main sight and not on ebay, I could have saved myself $20.00. Overall great saw for decent price, well worth it!

Wouldn't Start

Price was right and saw arrived very fast. Only problem is, it wouldn't start. Customer service gave me a list of repair shops in my area that were supposed to fix it for free. The first one one the list (closest to me) was out of business. The second one told me that there was no way that Husqvarna would warranty the machine and refused to fix it. I returned it.

Great inexpensive saw

Light weight and adequate power make for a good saw.  I've put 5 tanks of gas/oil mix thru my saw and have had no problems.  It cut through a 16 inch Alder or Western Hemlock quickly with little effort.

Nice saw better customer service
Saw looks nearly new although it is "branded" with an "R" on the bottom.  Added proper gas mix, bar oil, followed simple instructions, saw started right away and has continued to run great.  What is even better than being very happy to have a nice Husky made in Swenden for a deal is the customer service.  The first saw I received had some damage (shipping?) and the folks at VM took care of the issue quickly without cost to me.  I will order again.

Good saw, could be a little better

Great bang for the buck and is a great deal for those with a little experience.  Reading the reviews here it's obvious a good portion of the negative ones are coming from people that are pretty new to a chainsaw.

The first one had a huge fuel leak, no idea why, but VMinnovations shipped it back and sent a new one for free.  The second was just fine upon arrival.  Looked pretty much new except for a factory reground chain.

First, the idle and carb settings were off.  Not a huge deal, just a $10 special tool and my tach to set it.  The only problem is the everyday buyer won't have a special carb tool, tachometer and the knowledge of how to do this.  The saw could be set a little better from the factory.

After tweaking the carb it's a great little saw.  Cuts plenty fast for its' size and is a pretty lightweight little unit.  It's perfect for limbing or occasaional firewood duty.

If you are a new saw buyer, skip this saw or be prepared to take it directly to a shop to have the idle set and the carb tuned.  Your smarter choice would be to just go grab a Stihl MS180 from your local delaer for $200 and have a warranty and support.

If you have some experience with small engines, grab this deal as it's a decent saw once it's tweaked for your elevation and fuel mix.

Great chainsaw for the weekend warrior

Great chainsaw for using at home for a good price. Put it ogether, added fuel and bar oil, and after a couple of tries (getting the fuel in the lines) it started right up and I used it to cut some trees arouns my yard. Usually people are weary of refurbished products but it's a chainsaw and very simple (it's not somethign electronic) if Husqvarna refurbished it at the factory I'm sure it works just fine for my recreational use.

Thanks VMI and Husqvarna

Ordered the 435 as a limb saw because of its light weight.  Very pleased so far.  Awesome little saw with lots of power that starts right up.  I did have to get the carb adjuststed, but a local dealer took care of that free of charge. Besides that, no problem.  Oh yeah, the saw looks brand new. Basically, I got this saw half-price. Thanks VMI

The truth about this saw

Has sharpy # written on the case and a big R melted into the bottom plastic. These and some bar wear and light plastic scratches are the only ways to know its a refurb. Not exstatic about the big R on the bottom but happy with the overall condition is good for the money. Mine seems to bog a bit during long cuts. Often has stalled the chain because of the big. Pretty sure that tuning needs to made richer and i'm working on that. Wouldn't be a big shock to expect some carb tuning needs to be done to get this to run right. Not huskys fault but the EPAs. Even though its bogging on me for now, i would still recommend it, for the $143 that I paid at the time.

Husqvarna 435 reconditioned saw

I just bought a Husqvarna 435 from VM. I ordered it on a Tuesday and received it on Friday. Opened the box and they had forgotten to put a 16" bar in the box. It had a chain and tool for installing the chain but no bar. I called VM and spoke with one of the customer service reps and told her about the bar and that Lowes had one for about $35. They credited my credit card $35 and I went and purchased a bar the same day. The saw looks new and was easy to assemble once I set the chain brake the way the instructions told me too. I filled it with gas (92 octane) and bar oil. Set the choke, primed the carburator and on the third pull the engine popped. Took the choke off and the saw started on the second pull. I went out and cut a little wood. The saw has great power for a small saw. I bought this as a replacement for my Stihl 038. The Stihl was a great running saw but heavy as lead. For the money I spent on the Husky verses a new Stihl you can't go wrong. I actually could have bought two of these Husky's verses one new Stihl of similiar size and quality. Follow the instructions, take your time and get it right, use high octane gas and I don't think that you can go wrong at $167 for basically a new saw it's a no brainer.

Good Deal

My 435 arrived quickly. I had no problem removing the foam spacers and installing the bar (if you don't know how to do this, and you expect to operate a chainsaw, now is the time to learn). Once the primer bulb was pumped enough to have gas in it, it is easy to start, just follow the instructions! Set choke, Pump primer bulb 6 times, pull 4 times (or less if it coughs), choke off then pull until it starts, which for mine is one more pull. Let warm up a bit before using.

Mine looked new, the bar and chain had no use on them, there was a small scratch on the clutch cover and a sharpie number written on the front. I pulled the spark plug and the piston had no carbon on it. This is a new strato-charged saw, meaning the muffler is not a restricted cat type and the power is all at the highest RPM's.

The saw balances nicely at the handle, and it is light weight for its 2.2HP, so it is easy to carry around the property and get it to the worksite. It cuts well but bogs if you push on it at all. I'm only on the second tank but it seems to be breaking in and making more power already. I purchased some 3/16" files, sharpened the hooks and just touched the rakers with a flat file, and now it really rocks.

If you need to cut 16" or more constantly, this is not a good choice of saw, you need something 50-60cc, but if you only do it occasionaly (storm cleanup) or do a lot of pruning and limbing, this is a really good deal. There is an 18" version, I wouldn't bother, unless you just need to extend your reach because you can't reach down easily.

I recommended this saw to a coworker, and he is also very pleased with it.

Follow directions

I was looking for a good consumer level saw to work with around my home, fire wood, storm clean up, and for cutting camp wood.  I read all the reviews about this saw and was a little concerened about the starting of it.I came to the conclusion that you need to follow the starting directions for this saw and it would start easy so I took a chance and ordered it I noticed that when I recieved the saw that the number had a "A" after it which ment that it was the best lot of the reconditioned saws. The saw appeared as if it was brand new out side of the "R" branded on the bottom of it.Upon starting I filled it with high octane fuel and synthetic oil ,followed the starting procedure and it started on the 3rd pull and ran like a dream. After useing it for a while I shut it off and tried restarting useing the correct starting procedure,it starts on the first pull every time.  I am sure that this saw be handed down to my son and then my grandson.  If you want a great consumer model saw for a great price buy this one but just follow the starting directions and you will have an easy starting saw with lots of cutting power, that is built to last

Great deal! Skip a 'NEW' one...

Love my refurb. Ive had it for over a year. I use it a lot, more than most people. I've probably dropped over 100 trees and limbed them.

I helped some students build a paintball field and relandscaped my own backyard.

I definitely prefer this over a Stihl. Not even kidding.

Awesome Value!

I just got this refurb unit last week and took it out to cut some almond wood (hard stuff).  I went through almost 5 tanks of fuel and she ran like a champ.  I noticed when the engine is cold it would stall sometimes, but pull the cord, give it some gas and away we go! If you are concerned about any of the complaints on the web how I "followed the instructions and it didn't want to start" type of issues, just give it a little gas as you are pulling the cord and off you go!

First refurbished saw

Great saw.  Mine looked like new except that it did have oil all over it.   Started easily and runs great.  Have used for several months and has never missed a beat.  Great price, value, and performance.  I can't explain the other reviews?????  Oh yea, free shipping and it arrived the day after I bought it.  You can bet that won't happen again.

I now check this  site out weekly.

satisfied

the refurbished chainsaw was delivered timely and as advertised.  it arrived in a brown box labelled as certified husqvarna refurbished chainsaw, along with chain, bar, bar wrench/screwdriver, and directions -- all husqvarna.  i was able to follow the instructions to assemble.  another reviewer mentioned confusion about the shipping spacer installed on bar bolts -- easy to overlook -- but the directions did mention it.

i hesitated with 5 stars only because i just got, so i can't speak to the durability.   But it started easily and i was very happy to get sawing.  so far, though, i only have positive comments, so 5 stars it is!

since these reviews have really helped me, i'll add one additional note about chainsaws, in general:  evidently, one *must* use additives with gasoline (preferably higher octane) on these 2 stroke engines and shake the gas/oil before using.  i have learned (hard way!) that ethanol can seperate a bit from gas/oil.  When this seperation occurs the chainsaw will burn through ethanol without the lubricating oil, eventually damaging cylinder/piston.

Great for the Price

Great Chainsaw for the price.  My one gripe is that it is tempermental to start.  You need to disregard the directions and start once with choke, and then once with full throttle... which is difficult if you are using the recommended "foot through handle" method.  However, once it starts, it works great.  Very sharp chain and very powerful engine.  Great machine for the price!

Great Saw!

Great Saw! Came yesterday. Last night I attached bar & chain and got it ready to use - only took about 15 minutes. Was asy to put together.

This evening I got home, gassed it up and tried to start it. It started up pretty easily - only about 6-10 pulls to get it going. I cut up a pretty good size tre that had fallen in my neighbor's yard and it cut it up very easily. Much better than my out Poulan Wild Thing that I was replacing. The worst part was stacking it up!

Best bang for your buck!

I am very impressed with this saw!  It starts very easily, is not too heavy, and has plenty of power.  I have cut over 30 trees out of my yard and have yet to have a problem.  When I got the saw it had engraved initials on the case but that was the only blemish.  Very high quality and fast shipping!  You cannot go wrong with this kind of discount!

Arrived like new

I bought this saw just in case I need it when another storm comes.

I setteled on Huskqvarna because my local home improvment super store sells them, so I thought a big name reputation is not apt to sell saws that are troublesome to loyal customers.

Saved a bunch over them by buying reconditioned on line from here.

It arrived like new inside and out. I like the new way that a screw driver flips off clips to easily remove the top where the plug and filter are. I also like the side adjustment to take the slack out of the chain.

First time start, only took two pulls to blip the engine with choke on, and another pull to start it up with choke off.

Idles good, revs quick, cuts easy.

Charles

Lightweight saw with excellent power

Hurricanes and major windstorms have brought down many large trees in my yard and my daughter's yard.  I bought this saw and put it to use immediately cutting up 8 cords of 36" hickory and many smaller trees broken in wind storms.  My daughter heats with wood and this saw can notch the large logs for splitting (using ripping chain).  When felling trees, the light weight allows you to make better notches and allows more accurate drops, especially around buildings.  The saw arrived within 2 days of my purchase in a plain box and I knew about resetting the chain brake, before removing the bar cover.  It looks like a new saw with safety chain.

Nice Little Saw

Saw came pretty quick but was defective. Hassle-free return, just called and explained the problem. They sent me another one that runs just fine. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it comes with one of those "safety" anti-kickback chains so if you actually want to cut anything with it, you have to go out and buy a real chain. All in all, nice little saw for the price.

Works for me

Have a lot of yard work for a couple homes - one on a half acre lot the other on an acre.  I'm not cutting fire wood, just annual yard clean up and tree removal as needed.  Did the job for me.  Was $300 at Lowes and I paid less than half that much.  For my use that's a great deal.  Bought a backpack blower here a few years ago and that still works great too.

So far so good...

Looks brand new, only fault...if it is one is the bar they sent doesnt have husqavrna on it.  Looks generic or refinished and never rebadged.  Also the saw arrived with oil all over it like another reviewer stated... for these 2 things I gave it the 4 stars...  Ive never owned or even used a chainsaw before, however I had a friend that has a bunch help me put the bar and chain on and he said it looks to be in very good condition.

After reading a bunch of safety stuff and watching a bunch of youtube videos on opperating a chainsaw safely, I gave it a shot.  The thing started up on the 2nd pull...  I did put 91 octane gas in it, dunno if that has anything to do with it.  But my friend recommended it.

Hopefully it last as long as a new one, time will tell.

Used Saw

The first saw I received leaked chain oil. I returned it and received another saw in a timely fashion.  Both saws appeared to have been used in a commerical situation.  They both showed wear, and I would consider them used rather than refurbished.  However for the price I have a positive opinion of the purchase and was very pleased with the service I received from vminnovations.

Great deal on a nice chainsaw.

I often read reviews where the purchaser is unhappy because they got a reconditioned chainsaw with parts missing, or a dull chain, so I was very please when I opened the box to find all of the parts, the adjustment tool, and what looked to be a new chain. Other than a few scuffs, and residual oil in the oil reservoir, my chainsaw looked new. It runs and works great! I am a 5' tall 100lb woman with back problems, so I need help starting it sometimes, but once it's running, it's well balanced and cuts easily and quickly. I plan to purchase a decompression valve if it is available to make it a little easier for me to start. It was also well packed, and a quick ship. I would definitely recommend it.

Husqvarna 435

I was a bit apprehensive about ordering a refurb chainsaw (especially after reading a few negative reviews about the condition they showed up in) but after receiving and unboxing my Husqvarna 435 refurb I quickly realized that my fears were unwarranted. It had a few minor scratches on the plastic but nothing you wouldn't get after using it a time or two. The chain appeared to be used which was a bit disappointing but after using it to cut up a tree that had snapped during a storm I found that the chain was very sharp and I was happy I didn't have to go through the break in process of constantly tightening a new chain. The engine runs great and idles nicely and this little chainsaw has plenty of power. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and feel that I got a very fair deal for just under $140 shipped. This was kind of a spur of the moment purchase for me but a week after it arrived I had a large tree snap in half during a flash storm with very high winds. This chainsaw more than paid for itself in this one use (it would have cost more than double the sell price if I had to hire someone to clean my mess up). It made easy work of cutting up the fallen tree and made me a believer in the Husqvarna brand.

Good saw, decent price
Saw arrived in pretty good shape.  Came with new Chain and guide bar.  The box had some oil/gas spots from some leftover.  It started right up and am very pleased.  The only thing it did not come with was the bumper spike.  New ones come with it, these do not according to the CSR I spoke with.  Since it did not say it wasn't included, it's getting only 4 stars.

I was unsure a year ago if buying refurbished was a wise choice.  A year later I am completely happy with my decision.  Husqvarna is a quality tool and has worked well for me.  Even with a 16" saw, I was able to cut down two 48" diameter gum ball trees.  I would love to put a 18" chain on this, but the 16" has worked for me.  Just so you know, I have been cutting trees for 30 plus years.  I wouldn't recommend just anybody cut massive trees down like I described using a 16" chain.  My last saw was a 20" behemeth.  I needed something lighter.  Very much sold on Husqvarna products, even refurbished ones.

Excellent!

Buying a refurbished chainsaw scared me a little at first, but I can definitely say I was pleasantly surprised when my saw arrived at my door.  I placed my order in the morning on Wednesday July 3rd and i got a shipping notification around noon.  The saw was delivered Saturday, July 6th.  Opening the box i was met with a saw that looked brand new.  No marks, no wear, and a brand new bar and chain.  Added bar oil and some 50:1 gas mix and within 5 pulls of the cord the saw was running perfectly.  I used it all day Saturday and had no problems at all.  I highly recommend this saw for anyone who is considering it and I am very happy with VM.  Will definitely order here again in the future!

Chain Guide Plate Fails Early

I've purchased four Husky 435s from Vminnovations.  They are a good saw but they have a design failing.  The Chain Guide Plate is made of weak metal, not steel.  Thus in my use, it only takes 15 to 20 tanks of gas before the chain cuts through the Chain Guide Plate.  The Chain Guide Plates have failed on all four of my saws (and yes I do keep my chain tension tight).   Note, the chain guide plate is located on the side of the chain saw next to the sprocket.  The replacement part (HUS 544284601) is lesss than $3 (plus shipping), but you have to remove the clutch, sprocket, and spark plug to make the replacement.  This may be more than most homeowners want to do.  If you take it to a dealer I'm guessing you are looking at a $25 to $50 charge.  Husqvarna needs to change their design and make a stronger Chain Guide Plate.

A few early bumps

The pros: very good price, free shipping, great brand and shipped in about 3 business days.

The cons: box had a oil stain, not to mention I was sent the completely wrong chain.  It was an Oregon chain that was roughly 2" too short.  Good news is that I called VM Innovations and they sent me a new Husqvarna chain in about 2 days, free of charge, no questions asked.

In summary: it's a refurbished chain saw so don't assume everything will be sunshine and roses.

Chain Saw

This is the second item I've bought for VM Innovations. The first was a refurbished Poulan string trimmer for $50 which I am very happy with.

The chain saw came in the original Husqvarna box. It was not assembled but included a new chain and bar. No problem putting it together. Although refurbished it was in very good condition. Filled it with high octane gas/oil mixture and bar oil and it started up after a few pulls. Used it for a couple of hours and it worked great! Cuts right through all kinds of wood and very easy to operate.

Very happy with my purchase!

Very nice chainsaw

I have been using a Mcculloch Pro Mac 610 20" saw to cut trees down and into firewood on my 5 acres. It is getting old and needs more and more maintenance, and not to mention it weights almost 20lbs. This saw weighs only 9 lbs and is big enough to do the majority of the work and use the old 20" for the occasional big work.

Got the saw this morning and it arrived in a Husqvarna "factory reconditioned" box with a grade "b" on the label.. opened it up .. very nicely packaged. Came with a new bar, new chain, and even a wrench (wasnt expecting it to come with the wrench) .. only thing different than a new saw would be a few scratches on the bar / chain brake cover .. other than that it almost looks brand new

I put bar oil and gas in it, press the primer bulb til it primed, put the choke on, two pulls and it started to fire, choke off, and one more pull just like the instructions say and its running .. VERY easy to start compared to other chainsaws I have used in the past.

Once it warmed up it cuts awesome. Loves to rev and plenty of power for such a small and light saw.

I'm sold on husqvarna. Next saw will be a 20" husqvarna to replace the mcculloch

Why buy new?

I bought this saw 2 years ago and haven't had one issue.  Not even an instance when it wouldn't start on the second pull!  It came with a little "R" on the bottom of the pastic casing (I assume from being refurbished) and that was the only thing that was different from a brand new saw.  I have cut down and pieced out over 150 trees with this thing and it is awesome!

Great Price on a Husqvarna!!

This is a Great Price for a Genuine Husqvarna Chainsaw!! This same model 435 16" chainsaw retails for $300 at my local Lowe's Hardware...

I'm THRILLED with my purcahse. This Chainsaw cuts through wood like a Hot Knife through butter. I'm blown away. I've owned Pollan and several other brands over the years, this Husqvarna is Unreal. The chain is Much More Agressive than other chain designs and eats through the wood faster than anything I've ever used.

The price here is way better and Refurbished = Brand New.

Now, with that said, you might need to adjust the carb a little, adjust the idle speed, etc. But if you can go on youtube and easily find out how to tweek the carb settings and the High and Low adjustments to get a Husqvarna that runs like brand new at half the price.

Best Chainsaw I've EVER owned in the last 10 years!!

to Shihl or Not to Stihl, that is the HUSKY

This saw is light and has some power for what it is. Took it to the local dealer that tuned up the low idle circuit so that it has some more torque and doesn't bog when hammering down. Did it for free when I $ the Husky saw caase. Anyway, I have a stihl 290 Farm, this and a Husky 455 ranch. This is by far the most versitile when cutting and doing what you need to. Light weight and does not slow down when you really put your hips into it.

This is not an industrial saw so don't expect to get a ROCK solid platform you could drop off a cliff. You get what you pay for. Refurb and all who cares. Buy one and run it!

Mine is a TANK for what it is, and pretty light weight. Thus Price point and versatility and power make it a 5 star option

Using for 1 year

I thought I would give another referb gas power tool another chance, (Bought a Referb. weed-eater, Junk) anyhow this Husky Chain saw has been nice to use. Most of all Starting is easy but you Must do as stated on saw and in owners book. It starts first or second pull EVERY Time! The shock absorber handle makes a good differance when using for long periods. Good on fuel. Had to put a new bar on it, that was my fault, ran it to tight (chain) and sized up roller tip. Good power. Came looking New and with a New Chain, the bar was used. All in all this has been a Great Chain saw glad I bought it.

Not a bad machine

I recieved it for christmas this year.  I cut a few things around the farm just to make sure I didnt get a mellon.  This past weekend I took it to help out a friend clear some land for his house.  I never got tired from cutting with the saw all day. I took down a number of trees with 20 inch diameters. With a sharp chain it cuts real well. On harder wood you could tell it bogged a little, but for what you pay and what this saw is capable of it is a great value.

Shipping was fast and the cheapest replacement chains I found on this site as well.

Excellent saw, Excellent service

I ordered this saw and it arrived very quickly.  I already own a 455 Rancher which I also purchased here refurbished and have been nothing but pleased with that saw.  Then 455 Rancher is a beast however and perfect for big jobs but I wanted something smaller for smaller jobs.  This saw arrived quickly but would not start.  I contacted customer service who instructed me to take it to my local Husqvarna service center.  The service center was not sure how to deal with refurbished units so I paid for the service so I could get my saw to use.  Only needed a carb adjust.  I emailed my service receipt to vminnovations and my credit card was credited for the repair within about 12 hours!  I have never had this quick of service ever from an online company.  The saw now fires up with barely a pull of the cord.  I can't be happier with this saw and the refurbished 455 Rancher.  Would buy either one again if needed.

Unexpected surprise

I bought this saw to replace an old Husqvarna that, after 20+ years, had given up the ghost.  I don't normally post reviews, nor do I post them shortly after I buy the product.  I like to see if it works as advertised and not while it still has the "new car" smell.  So, here it is six+ months later.  First, the saw arrived in a timely manner.  As noted in other posts, there was alot of oil, but that was not a major issue.  I was able to assemble it without any great issues.  However, there should be better instructions about removing the spacer.  Cosmetically, there were a few numbers written on it, probably a Sharpie, but otherwise, it was in pristine condition.  Initial start-up was without issue.  Second, the first few times I used it, it worked like a charm.  Then, for some reason, it would not start after it was warm.  I took it to a local Husqvarna repair shop and they showed me the "secret" in starting the saw when it was warm.  Since then, it fires up everytime, both when it is cold and when it is warm.  The saw has actually become my favorite one to use.  Third, it is light weight and easy to handle.  I've cut Oak, Maple, Ash, Cherry and Walnut with the saw, and it eats through the wood without issue, just rmemeber to keep the chain sharp.  Given everything about this saw that I have experienced, I would recommend it to a friend.

Great saw, great price, fast shipping

Nicely packaged in shipping container. The chainsaw was bone dry which was great. A couple of marks hear and there, but overall showed minor use and looks to be in great condition.

As a first-time chainsaw user it is imperative to read the manual and Husqvarna's online video. Great information there.

I followed starting procedures and it fired right up on the 2nd pull. Cut like butter. Leaks a bit of bar oil out the bottom but that's what the Husqvarna Powerbox case is for. Overall, very satisfied with VM and Husqvarna.

great saw, good price

saw had few scratches, new bar and chain,  easy to set up. Follow directions and check chain tension as it wears in, and as with any new chain.

have had probably 10 saws over the years, mostly premium stuff, some poulan, and low end. My saws usually last 10 + years, then go to the curb. cheap saws are not worth buying. this Husky is. This is the best running saw ever and has more power than any brand of this cc.  Always use 92 octane with seafoam or other stabilizer. Mix up only what u expect to use, use only fresh mix, after a month put in mower, or car and mix fresh. always drain out fuel and run dry after use. avoid E 85 always. a sharp chain makes for safe and easy cutting, if you don't know how to sharpen, check it out on utube. BE Safe. Sugges u check outsafety videos on internet if you are unsure of your ability. A chainsaw can be very dangerous.

Starts easy

I bought this referbished saw as the price was a great deal, at the time I only needed it to cut down some 3-5" scrub trees to thin out the wooded area of yard. The saw worked well, started first try every time i used it! But...Only if you follow the instructions to the letter on the saw/or manual if over or under primed it will not start. Same with choking, it easly and fast, floods out if over choked a little. When saw arrived the Bar looked as it were used much more ther the saw itself, lettering was almost worn off. This was the main issue. The bar (front roller, teeth) seized up on me only using it for less than 2 hours! I had to buy a new Bar & Chain as I ordered a 20" Other than this Saw runs great over 2 years of lite use.

Very Satisfied

I was concerned ordering this factory refurb after reading some of the negative reviews; however, I was very satisfied when I received my saw a couple weeks ago.  The saw came as many users describe: plastic bag inside a brown box, some oil in the bag but easily wiped off, and needing to assemble the bar and chain.  Assembly was easy and if you're going to own a chainsaw you need to learn how to assemble the bar/chain area.  I filled it with gas and bar/chain oil and it started fairly easy.  I've since used the saw to cut up 3 trees that have fallen on my property over the past year.  Probably made over 50 cuts total up to 20" in diameter (be careful and make sure you know how to safely make cuts larger than the bar).  It did bog down a little on the big cuts but it's not really intended for large treework.  Re-starting the saw when warm is a bit of a pain untill you get the knack of it.  All in all a decent saw at a great price.  Perfectly suited for small trees, limbs, and medium storm cleanup.

Decent saw, except for the leaking oil

The refurb unit I bought looked nearly new (except for the melted in letters on the bottom specifying that it was refurbed.)  It came with a brand new bar and chain and I couldn't even tell if it had gas or oil in it before.  It was easy to get started and ran great the few times I used it.  It would have a little trouble getting through 10-12" logs and would get stuck, so I feel it is a little underpowered.  My biggest beef is the leaking bar and chain oil.  My old craftsman leaked like a sieve and I was not expecting a Husqvarna to do the same.  I bought the genuine Husky chansaw box and the bottom of the box is FULL of leaked oil which then in turn leaked out of the box and left a huge oil stain on my plywood shed floor.  I contacted VM to inquire if this was normal, which they said IS NOT.  They would not send me another because it was just past their return period.  If you don't mind wasting expensive bar Husky oil, go for it.  I am not happy that this saw leaks.

Won't run

Purchased for a gift to grandson (age 24).  Would not start.  A relative determined that the coil was defective as it would not fire the sparkplug.  I ordered a coil from a local dealer and installed it and it started right up.

Apparently the reconditioning process was overlooked and shipped to me still defective.

Cost of coil $25.00.  Shipping on coil $10.00.  10 days wait.  Labor was donated.

Very disapointing.

I cut 50 logs each year to heat my house

I like that it starts in all kinds of weather. I cut 50 logs each year to heat my house  I don't like the safety brake system it's broke.

Received on 2/28/2013 worked great until today 4/28/2013. Used to cut total of 4 logs when the safety brake locked up tried for 30 min to unlock it, had to finally remove it for the chain to move so I can use it.

Have an old clunker bought in 1968, Homelite XL12, thought I would upgrade. It's still working but slow. , Should have saved my money.

caught on fire

Bought one of these 8 months ago. Cut down one spruce tree when I got it.  Drained everything and store it for the winter.  Today I needed to do some spring cleanup so filled it up with chain oil and the proper mixture of gasoline and it caught on fire almost immediately. Thank god I was near a water source, I'm lucky it didn't explode on me I guess.  I googled and read someone else say theirs purchased new at lowes caught fire in the same manner.  Buyer beware.

Quality saw for the money
Qualit saw for the money.  Follow the directions on how to start the chainsaw and it'll start within the first few pulls.  Runs great when idles and cuts like a charm.  A great deal for a refurbished saw at approx. half the price of a new one at the store. Cut for about 2 hours and it never lost a beat. Can't go wrong with this saw.

Great deal, great saw..

This is a great saw, and a great deal. Package came quickly, and I was cutting wood 10 minutes after opening the box! Took out into the woods next day, and ran it all day, and it performed great. It is not a "loggers" saw in that you're not going to be taking huge trees down, but it is a powerful little saw that holds its own.

Reconditioned Husqvarna 435 review

I ordered the saw and it arrived three days later. When I opened it the saw had been shipped without the bar. I called VM and spoke with customer service. They told me that they didn't have a bar in stock for my saw. I told them that they were about $35 at Lowe's so they credited my account back $35 and I bought my own bar. I assembled the saw (watch out for the chain brake) and once I figured out the brake it went together smoothly. I purchased premium unleaded gas, a bottle of 50:1 Stihl synthetic two stroke oil, filled the bar oil with Stihl bar oil and started the saw. On the third pull the engine gave a stutter, I turned off the choke and the saw started on the second pull. As you might guess I am a previous Stihl owner. I loved my old Stihl but wanted a lighter saw. This little Husqvarna doesn't have the power my old saw had but I didn't expect it too. It's just what I expected and wanted. I love the saw and the price.

Nice Saw!

The saw arrived just in time for Sandy's havoc! Cleared a downed pine tree and collecting firewood from downed trees. This saw has a nice blend of weight, size and power. Mine arrived with a clean body and bar with a shape chain, no chain oil leak. I'm using 91 octane gas and the saw starts fine and idles. There is occasional stalling and difficult starting some times when warm. Holding the throttle down with my foot while starting requires no more than two pulls. Power is adequate for larger logs. All in all, very happy with the purchase from VMinnovations.

My "New" used saw

The saw looked as good as new.

I put the blade on, fueled it up, pumped the primier 6 times and fired it up on the second pull !!

Ya can't beat that with a stick !!!

I was hesitant to order, but that fear is gone......GOOD DEAL !!

I will use this site again if I need something.

Happy in South Carolina

Pleased with the price and the product

The Saw arrived well packed in a sturdy carton.

It looked to be in near new cosmetic condition.

Putting it together was easy; took five minutes. There is on online video which is helpful.

I filled it with 92 octane stabilized gasoline and Husqvarna brand engine oil. Added chain oil and fired it up.

Three pulls and it started...

For pruning limbs and cutting reasonably sized logs, I think it will do nicely. Am pleasd ith my purchase.

Great saw very happy

Saw was shipped fast and easy to assemble. Conditon of saw was to my satisfaction little scratches hardly noticable but anyone who has used a saw new or otherwise knows how fast a saw gets beat up. Read instruction on how to start cold, pumped air purge 6 times 3-4 pulls on choke on and one time with choke off and it started. The first thing I was impressed with is how balance the saw feels while you are cutting and the anti-vibration dampeners absorb vibration is sweet compared to my older saw I was use to.Also this saw runs better emissions and has more power then my older saw (Mcculloch Max 3516).To tighten or tension the chain is also fast and easy. Couldnt be happier with purchase.

as advertised

the saw came as advertised, like new condition, i could not find any defect in it at all.  it literally started on the first pull and ran well.  i bought a husqvarna because this one is to replace one i wore out over the past 10 years, and if this one is as good as the last one, i probably won't ever need another saw.  the old one still runs ok, but it has some "issues" related to old age and i need a reliable saw. i bought it because i just couldn't pass up this deal, but i didn't realize how much power my old saw had lost over the years.  i highly recommend this saw.  i am very satisfied, and feel i got more than my money's worth.

Great value for the $$

Got this chain saw after exchanging the poorly made, impossible-to-start Poulan I ordered from here.  Yes, the Husky cost more, but it is well worth it, this one starts like a dream, and keeps on running.  The cutting power is great, but I've only used an electric chain saw prior to this, which isn't much of a comparison.

Arrived very fast, and in great condition

The Husqvarna refurbished 435 chainsaw arrived a few days after I ordered it.  Aside from a few barely noticeable scuffs, it looked new.  Following the instructions, it started on the second pull, and ran nicely.  I used it immediately to cut a fallen tree (from the recent hurricane) into fireplace-sized logs.  The chain, also marked "refurbished" had been sharpened properly, so it cut very nicely.  Two things i like a lot are the O-ring sealed fuel and chain-oil caps, which don't leak like my decade and a half-old McCullough, and the bucking spikes.  The vibration-absorption handle is also a plus, especially as I had recent hand-surgery, and it was comfortable to hold, even with healing incision sites on my hand.  Overall, i'm glad i bought this model, and saved a few bucks at the same time.

I received the product on the day that it was promised, and immediately noticed that it was in very good cosmetic shape, with an "R" for refurb branded into the bottom of the power head.  I examined the filter, plug, fluid reservoirs, and safety mechanisms prior to assembly.  The bar was in mint shape and the chain installed easily.  I added fluids and followed the recommended starting procedure (Lock the brake, choke on, prime, pull until it pops, choke off, pull to start, blip the throttle to get low idle).  It started perfectly and idled well.  Also tested that the oiler was functioning, which it was.

Overall I am completely satisfied with the saw, VMI, and their shipping methods.  I would recommend them to anyone.

My 2 Cents

I normally do not write reviews, but with the extreme mix of reviews on this item, I thought I should give my 2 cents. The saw I received was in perfect condition. If not for the "R" stamped on the bottom, and the small sharpie number written on the case, I would have never known it was refurbished. I can see how this could potentially be a "luck of the draw" purchase. It doesn't appear, based off some of the reviews below, that Husqvarna pays much attention to cosmetics when refurbishing these saws. However mine is in much worse cosmetic shape now that I've taken it out and used it than it was when I took it out of the box. Also, mine started within three pulls and was shipped drained of all fluids so I did not have any of the issues some have commented about with the saw being covered in bar chain oil. The saw is idling a little rough, but has only quit on me a couple of times while idling. I plan to adjust the carbeuretor when I've got an extra minute, but it's worked so well without adjustement I haven't taken the time yet. I did read another reviewer state to use a higher octane fuel and I believe that may be why mine is acting better than some. The manual does state a higher octane fuel is suggested. So I say buy this one. It's a great deal at less than half the cost of the same saw new. And if you get one that's in horrible shape, I hear VMInnovations is pretty good about returns. :)   Good luck!

I got a really good deal on this saw

Read the reviews, most good, a few had problems.  Most of the problems I read about were probably due to either inexperience with chain saws in general or failure to even look at, much less read, the manual.  My saw was just like new, as advertised, and started easy, ran well, and the chain was like new.  The only indication that it was bit a new saw that I could see was a little bit of wear on the bar.  When I need another saw, which may be never if this one lasts as long as my last Husquvarna, I know where to buy it.

Works great but don't prime it like the directions tell you.

Was hard to start and I think it has to do with the priming step. If I had to do it all over again I would just prime it 2 times and give it a couple pulls. Then prime it 2 more times and see if that gets the motor running. I did the reccomended 6 prime pumps in the beginning and ended up pulling the ripcord about 60 times and it was a no go. I then let it sit for about 3 hours and came back to it, did not prime it again, pulled the ripcord about 3 times, adjusted the choke and pulled it 2 more times and it was buzzin.

great deal on a great chainsaw

I received the chainsaw 2 days earlier than the expected delivery time, so I was very pleased with that. Opened the box and it looked brand new. Spent about 15 minutes getting the bar and chain on, gassing it up, and giving it some bar and chain oil, and I got it cranked after 4 or 5 pulls. To avoid flooding, don't keep the choke on for more than 2 or 3 pulls.

It's worth every penny. So glad I didn't spend $100 for a new one, because this one is basically new.

Good Saw

Had difficulty getting sprocket cover off and back on due to chain brake being ON.   Need better instructions.   Saw works beutifully after got it assembled and fueled up.  Alittle hard to start the 1st time, but after that not a problem at all.  Have only used twice for bucking a fallen tree, but cuts great.

Great saw at great price

This chain saw is perfect for my situation.  Homeowner with five acres and suffered significant tree damage during Christmas ice/snow storm.  40-50 pine trees down or damaged, 10 or more cedar trees down or damaged so the 435 chainsaw has been very busy. Great price and other than a few cosmetic scratches this appears new and in great shape for a refurb.

Husqvarna 435 RB

I finally broke down and ordered a chain saw. My previous saw I had forever was a little MAC3200. I received my new saw on time, as promised. Free shipping is a plus, FAST free shipping even better. I had it assembled and running in about 10 minutes. Used it today and was impressed with the power of this saw. Lighter than I expected too. I would highly recommend the saw and the merchant. Bottom line GREAT SAW GREAT PRICE, GREAT SELLER.

This saw is easily assembled.Only a few very minor scratches, but this was expected in a refurbished saw.Saw is built very well, and love the vibration reduction on this saw.Saw hit on pull three, and was running on pull five.Cuts wood like it was butter.I have already told friends and family about this saw,and will continue to tell people i know or anyone who ask what i think about this saw. By the way in case anyone is still wondering I LOVE it.I honestly cant think of anything bad to say.

Worked great

I used refurbished unit this for about 2.5 hours pretty much non-stop. It was easy to use and cut through everything I threw at it- up to 15" diam tree - without a hiccup. I stopped and started it a number of times while hot and it always restarted. I did note that you must follow the warm/hot engine procedure explicity. As long as you do this, it starts right up every time. Also, when cold, make sure it is truly primed by observing the fuel flow through the squeeze-bulb. Sometimes it may take more than the 4-6 presses.  My  unit arrived clean and in a plastic bag inside a sturdy Husqvarna Refurbished unit box. It only had some minimal scuffs on the body (mostly on the underside) to indicate it was not brand new. Very satisfied - especially since I got it at a sale price even below the normal refurb price

Nice saw

No complaints. Saw is virtually new. Had to relearn the "reset" procedure for putting the chain brake in the "cocked" position to reassemble. I am guessing that when the saw is tested, the chain brake is not attached and the brake mechanism is activated, and the saw is shipped with the requirement that to reassemble, the brake has to be "cocked" back into the running position or the bands are tight and won't allow them to slip over the clutch drum. A small learning matter. Worth the effort to learn how to do this in case it happens in the field. Saw stubborn at first to start, then fine after the first start. This saw has a suspension system that isolates the vibration away from the user, a lot less brutal on the aging skeletal system than the Poulan or Craftsman type. I'd say it's a very good buy. I heat with wood, and I find that although the bigger saws are good for the takedown, bucking inside the structure needs something handier.

better than expected

I am a home owner and use a saw once in awhile and in researching for a new one found this reconditioned unit, can't beat the price so I ordered it.  Came in a plain box and when I opened it , it looked like a new one, easy assy, ( after reading instructions ) came with a new bar a new chain, body didn't have a mark on it. fueled it up and filled bar oil tank  and after 4 pulls was up and running.  after a minor adj for carb mixture it runs like a tiger I am very pleased with it and can't praise it enough, you can't go wrong with this saw and the price can't be beat.

Husqvarna 435- Refurbished?

Love the product!  My only dislike was the fact that if the saw was actually refurbished, why wasn't the used and damaged chain replaced?  So before I could use the saw I had to puchase a new chain.  Saw started on the 3rd pull.

Awesome Chainsaw

What a great saw, just a litte trouble setting up the bar and chain, but beyond that it was a great experience, easy to order, great shipping, and I wish I bought the saw a year ago!! Was using a Homelite and this saw cuts through anything like butter!! Would recommend it to anyone!! Don't be afraid of the reconditition...except for a few scraches the saw was like new!

Used hard, put up wet
The saw went together easily but I noted thar the bar was a generic (no brand on it). After assembly the saw would not cut wood at all. It was then that I noticed that the chain had been absolutely hammered, the top of the teeth had been curled. I spent approx. an hour sharpening and smoothing edges of the chain and the saw cut fine. I called VMI and they quickly offered me $15 for a new chain. They had no idea how the chain had been damaged or why there was a non Husky bar. I had wondered why anyone had accepted it as a return. The powerhead looks fine but I haven't pulled the plug to look inside the cylinder. Bottom line: The saw starts fine and has enough power to cut hemlock when fully buried in 20 inch wood. I believe it is going to be an excellent saw.

Mint or better condition!

I have been a Stihl user for over 30 years. Years ago, I wouldn't have considered anything else. The economy being like it is, the price of the Husky saw caught my eye. Since I don't use my chainsaws as much as I did years ago, I decided to give one a try. I contacted customer service at VMI before ordering the saw. They assured me they would stand behind the products they sell. When the saw arrived, it was easy to tell it had never seen the woods. There was not so much as a scratch on the saw body and no wear on the paint on the bar. The clutch/sprocket cover incorporates the chain break on the saw, so that took a couple of minutes to figure out. After following the startup procedure in the manual, the saw fired up and ran like a champ. I have only made a couple of cuts with the saw, but am excited about cutting some firewood this fall and clearing some shooting lanes on a hunting property. I am very pleased with the customer service and with the quality of the saw. I have my eye on the Husky 455 now... If I decide to pull the trigger on that purchase, it will be through VMI. Thanks for making a great product available at a great price!

Great Little Chainsaw

I can't say that I've used my 435 for hours on end, I haven't.....what I can say that it was easy to set-up..started on the 4th pull and I downed a 20" dia. tree in my backyard in very short order. I've used it a couple of times since and it has started easily. It isn't big but it does what I need done. If it keeps doing what I need done, It will be one of my best purchases in quite some time.

Great saw

Great saw at a very good price, I did a lot of research and looked at prices all over the Internet and this beats them all including other refurb units.

Looked like new out of the box and assembled and started with no problems, I went out and cut some lay downs and it cut quickly throwing chips so the chain was sharp.

I have no complaints and have bought a trimmer since getting the saw in from the same company.

Thanks for making a quality product affordable!

Great saw for the Money

Great lightweight limbing saw and up to the task for light bucking and clean up jobs.  The narrow kerf chain makes this thing cut fast for the amount of power it generates.  Just be wary, it's not a fuel injected car, mine needed a carb tweak out of the box, but it's running great since.

Good Deal

The saw showed up within two days. The refurbished look is ok but they melt RP into the underside and make up on the saw so everyone knows its used. I had major issues with the instructions and putting the chain on. Make sure to release the brake... Go to website and view video on installing the chain if in doubt. I pulled the case off with the brake on and was unable to put back together with ease. I did some minor cutting and it started right up and ran very good. I am impressed based on the cost versus new. I would but refurbished again from VM. Husqavarna website has a good knowledge base, even how to reset the brake. The case and interior did have some dirt and debris but it is used.

all good, but hard to start

Saw looked new, except bar had been spray painted - who cares.  I had a struggle getting it to start.  I'm hoping there's just a learning curve here.  I've read that you need to be very precise with the starting procedure.  I thought I had been, but am guessing I flooded it - seems they flood easily.  Only used it the one time so far, cut fine.  A very good value for the price.  Hope it starts easier in the future!

so far good saw

so far  saw doing the job ok I expected maby little more "like new" condition but its ok there is no bar cover, bar is also refurbished(or not)and painted with primer which comes off after first cut, co you will see how it really was used when you make first cut. I used stihl before and that one was very sensitive on dust needed replace filter very often, will see how this one does.

Nice Saw ! Great Price !

Was very impressed with the way the saw looked out of the box. Had seen reviews that talked about a mess but mine was spotless. Looks almost brand new. Mixed up some high octane fuel and oil and saw started on the 3rd pull. Have done some cutting around the yard and it works nicely. Same saw at TSC goes for $269.00, so cannot beat the price.

I only use this for recreational cutting, but love it.  I used to cut fire wood for winter heating.  I wish I had this saw the last 20 years of cutting.  Much lighter and has just as much power.  I only needed something for limb trimming and smaller trees, but I am sure this will outlast me.  Great saw.

Outstanding buy.

Husqvarana chainsaws are high quality tools. The build quality on this model is no exception.

The power to weight ratio is fantastic on this particular model. At a touch over 9lbs, its still a great saw for trimming limbs, but has the power to take down larger trees without bogging down. I used it to take the lower limbs off of 6 cedar trees in my yard. Even while cutting limbs over-head it was not as tiring as some "other makes" I own...

The one I received looked almost new. The only exceptions were a small scratch on the bottom of the case, and a trace amount of fuel/oil mix left in the tank by the factory. I slapped on the bar and chain, added some fuel/oil mix and it fired on the second pull. Have had no problems with it being tuff to restart thus far. Extremely pleased with this purchase, and with my first business transaction with VMInnovations.

  1. This is a good second saw. Easier to handle for overhead work and limbing. My other saw is a 18 year professional 32" bar Husky. Just don't expect it to perform like a big saw and you will be very happy with this model. Also fits in my truck tool box for emergencies

Great Saw !! Great Deal !!
I have had cheap chainsaws over the years that "did the job". Never wanted to spend the $ on a decent saw. I have been busting my knuckles trying to get my old MAC3516 started for 2 weeks now. I finally did some reseasrch and found this Husqvarna saw online. I did some research and the saw sounded like a good one along with the Husqvarna reputation. I was hesitant because it was a remanufactured unit, but for half the money I gave it a shot. I could not be more pleased. Came in a Husqvarna box with what looked like a brand new bar and chain. This unit looks almost brand new ! Maybe a couple of scratches on the case but barely noticed. I put lube in it, mixed up some fuel and followed the directions in the user manual that came with it in the box. 3rd pull off she went and warmed up quickly. Flipped the choke to run and she purrs like a kitten. Revs quick and feels torquey as well. I cut some small branches in my back yard and slides thru just like butter. Tried starting my Mac 1 more time and as always came away with another bloody knuckle and still not running. Thus far could not be happier with this purchase.

5 Star Saw Right Here

First off, this saw came in a clean, dry husqvarna factory box.  Upon opening I found it to be clean and in positive cosmetic condition.  What people buying this saw need to keep in mind is that it is "refurbished" and for sale at a fraction of the cost of a new saw.  The mechanical condition of the saw was excellent.  Are there very minor scratches and witness marks on the saw, yes.  After all it is used.  The saw started upon the second pull after filling it with gas and following the starting instructions that are clearly marked on the saw.  If you choose not to follow the instructions, you might as well expect problems on some level.  2 cycle engines require precise starting procedures and Husqvarna has certainly figured this saw out.  I've run many many chainsaws of varying sizes and brands for both work and "play" and this saw ranks among the best stihl or jonsered out there.  YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER SAW FOR THE MONEY!  Don't bother to drop $100 on a lesser product.  For an extra $50 you can have one for life if you treat it right.

Not a Stihl... but not bad

Having used chainsaws for over 30 years, it was a breeze to put together and get going. The chain break is different than what I am used to, so it took a couple of extra minutes getting that figured out. Push the primer bulb until you see a little gas move into it before trying to start. The initial start requires maybe 4 pulls. It fired right up. I am used to using a Stihl saw with about 15 cc more power. As long as you recognize the saw's limitations and let it do the work instead of forcing it through the wood, it cuts great. The saw I received looked as though it had never been used. There were no scratches anywhere on the saw body. There was no paint worn off of the bar. In my opinion, I got a new saw at just over half the price the local box stores want for the same saw.

Very happy!

Had to clear my property after a storm.  Took it out of the box put the bar and chain on, fueled it up and away I went.  Took care of four trees and a lot of branches in two days and never once had a problem.  The only problem I had was all my neighbors wanted me to help the cut down their trees too.  Took care of all of that too!  Great machine!

Great Saw
Great little saw at a great price, large enough and powerful enough for firewood cutting. Starts 2nd or 3rd pull and easy on the gas. The Chain break was tricky to get set up during initial assembly of the saw but not too difficult. Good for cutting up limbs, downing smaller size trees.......very happy with the price and saw......cant tell that is wasnt brand new when it arrived.

Good Basic Saw

Ordered saw to cut firewood and clear small trees on land. For basic jobs is all you will ever need.  Saw comes with good reputation on quality and ease of use. Is covered under 90 day warranty. Had question on a problem when saw arrived and was responded to promptly from the company. Problem solved. Have not put it under heavy load but works fine for smaller limbs and general use.

A great saw for the money!

If you are looking for a small saw for semi-professional use, this is a good choice. Given its weight/power ratio, it compares well with Stihl 201 - but even better with the 192's -- just for 1/2 or 1/3 the price. These refurbs are a real value.

Great buy!

I am very happy with this chainsaw.  I have always wanted Husqvarna equipment but it is usually too expensive for me.  But this was a great price, the saw is in great shape, easy to use and works great.  My first job for it was topping fenceposts and I got it done in no time!  Can't wait to use it again!

Having trouble with Starting the Saw

The unpacking and assembly was simple.  Took it into the woods and the saw started but stopped after cutting the first round and I could not get it started again.  Took it to the dealer and he was able to get it started and adjusted the carburator.  No Charge!  The dealer stated that the solid state modules (magneto and points in older models) in this model 435 has been a problem.  Took the saw home, went back into the woods and again the saw started and I cut  a partial load of wood. Went back the next day and could not start the saw.  It is now in the dealers hands for trouble shooting.  Everyone has been extremly helpful and I have a 455 Rancher Saw which has been trouble free and a real work horse.

Worth every penny

Excellent deal for a solid chainsaw.  My 15 year old Husqvarna gave up the ghost recently and I needed a replacement but an equivalent new saw would have been over $300.  I took a chance on this, i am not at all a fan of Refurbed items but took a chance on this one because I am familiar with Husky engines.  This works perfectly, so well in fact that I also bought a backpack blower.  That also works as new.  I save about $300 buying refurbed and have no regrets.

Nice Purchase

My saw arrived today and I am more than pleased. I put the bar and chain on (easy job if you follow the instructions and have any brains at all), filled it w/ gas/oil, followed the starting instructions and it fired right up. Cut a couple of small branches and it worked flawlessly. I will be doing some more cutting this weekend but first impressions are that I got a good all-around saw for a great price! If this saw was used before, it was used very little. There are hardly any signs of use! I took a chance on this saw and I am glad I did! VMInnovations shipped it fast and I am very happy with my purchase!

Saw of Greatness

Buy this saw , but get a splined carb adjuster (avail. on EBay) to adjust the factory leaned (read Cal EPA) mixture around a quarter of a turn out so the saw will live a long life . Don't leave gas in it in the off season , either . I got the adjuster before running the saw and broke it in by cutting firewood for a minute or less , then richening a bit after each minute until it was sounding non-lean at full throttle while cutting . After ten minutes of casual firewood cutting (even loaned it to a chainsaw maniac in camp) I will next re-check the jetting (I used it at 4000 feet) . A Tree Service guy in Camp said he had friend's with the 435 and they all loved them . Good , I think I love mine too . The best about the saw is the light weight and great power (after richening , of course) .

Great saw for light work.

Great price. Other than a few minor scuff marks on the bottom of the saw it looked like brand new. I had to adjust the idle because after a few minutes of running the saw would quit because idle was to low.

The Husky 435 is easy starting, looks good and should last me for a few years. I'm using it for limbing as I have a Husky 365 for the bigger stuff. I plan on buying a 346xp in a year or two before the price goes up. If this saw keeps running good then I might hold off on buying the 346xp.

These things won't die

I had always been a Stihl man until my uncle introduced me to his Husqvarna, since then I haven't gone back. I ended up getting this model, with proper upkeep these things are tanks, but with that said like any other chainsaw you can't abuse it. Proper chain oil and mix and its hard to not have a smile on your face using this.

Excellent Chain saw for the price!

This is my first chainsaw purchase, and I went with Husqvarna after borrowing my fathers 435 and my friends 455.  I decided on the 435 because the price was hard to beat and it was a comfortable saw to use.  The saw came as expected in a factory reconditioned box, with new looking bar, sharpened chain, tool and owners manual.  Saw did have a very small mark/writing (1/4") in sharpie and there are very minor signs of use... nothing that wouldn't be there after using it once or twice.  Overall it is a great saw at a great price.  Excellent service from vminnovations.com.  I had such great expierence purchasing Husqvarna factory reconditioned from vminnovations.com that I purchased a Husqvarna back pack blower and weed wacker.

Works like a champ, must be tuned for elevation

Mine fired right up.  Had to tune it (high/low) right off the bat to keep running.  But I believe that is because I am using the saw at 10k feet of elevation and it's probably tuned for sea level.  You can buy the carb tuning tool on the bay or the worlds largest shopping site, which I did along with the purchase of this tool.

Having never used a gas powered chain saw before, I was concerned with all of the horror stories one can troll up off the web about chain saw accidents.  So I bought chain saw chaps, steel toe boots, good gloves and a helmet with faceguard and ear protection built in.  I use all of the above, but the saw is really easy to use.  Cuts like butter.  I would recommend the above anyway because the chain and bar oiler on a chain saw do "leak" oil (normal operation) and my brand new shoes and chaps do have drips of oil on them.  No matter, better the boots & chaps than some other jeans and shoes I'd rather not have that happen to.  Plus now I look legit instead of the chain sawing equivalent of an urban cowboy.

I practiced cutting 16" logs on a tree that was already down.  No issues but gained confidence, especially with limbing which is a likely source of accidents should the tip of the chain come into contact with a branch and kick back the saw toward you.  Then in the next 2 hours I cut down 10 more trees from 5-14" and disposed of most of them too.

It's a no brainer purchase...

Liked it so much I bought a second 435

I bought one Husky 435 saw in Jan 2012 and a second in April 2012.  Between the two of them I've used about 50 chainsaw tanks of gas.  Both have worked great and are still running very well.  They have good power to weight ratio and the 16 inch bar is adequate for most jobs.  I have been thinning forest land and will often fall 600 to 900, one inch to eight inch diameter trees with three tanks of gas. At the age of 61, I like to use a lighter saw. When I go to the woods I always take two or three saws.  Stuff happens, saws get stuck in trees and need to get cut out or you hit metal or a rock and the chain is dull.  It is much easier to grab a second saw than to try and sharpen/replace a chain in the field.

Would not start.

I was happy to find an obviously NEW saw when I opened the box. Then I carefully followed starting instructions, but my best efforts only resulted only in a fouled plug. I then took it to the repair center recommended. They keep it for three or four weeks and I never heard back from them. When I showed up there without calling first, they said "By coincidence, we are working on it right now." Took it home and it still would not run! (By the way, I own three other saws, that I've never had a problem starting!) I brought myself the special tool required to adjust the carb; changed the plug; started saw and adjusted the carb properly. END OF PROBLEM!

I use this product to trim branches and cut firewood for personal use. I like the ease of assmbly of the chain bar and saw. Also like the easy access to filter and spark plug. The saw is light and easy to use. Most of what I liked iwas the price.

The only thing I would say I don't like is it does not come with a case or at the least a saw cover

Tired it because of the cost savings, and am pleased with saw.  Only used a few times - but so far so good.  Couple tips based on other reviews - read the assembly instructions before giving bad review.  Use NON-OXY fuel if it is availble in your area - will greatly increase the reliability of your saw.  Would buy from this company again - thanks.

Perfect Buy
Did some research on chainsaws and found the husquvarna to be the better quality chainsaw with a little more in price also. Found the refurbished one here for half price compared to the big stores and runs just as good. Pulled it out of box gas and oiled it then cut four 20 inch trees down and chopped up in fire wood in no time. Cuts like butter and powerful for a smaller chainsaw and perfect for homeowner.

Fastest saw i have owned
Well to start with my new saw arrived pretty quick and was easy to set up. Had to wait a few days to use it, but then the fun began. Had a lot of storm damage from a freak snow storm and this saw cleaned it  very quickly. Just followed the directions  and the saw started  and ran like a champ in no time most of the large limbs were cut up, and some of them were rather large 12+ inches mostly red oak. I really like the saw and hope it continues to work well. All in all a great buy

Very happy with purchase!

After reading several reviews on this site and other sites, decided to try for this refurb 435.  It arrived two days after placing the order, with good email notification of sttus from vminnovations. The unit was in very good shape, a new chain was included and I think it was a new, or barely used, bar.  The tool itself was in very good shape, it pretty much looked new.

I printed out a full manual for the 435 on-line, it elaborates a bit on the topics included in the manual that comes with the chainsaw.  It took me a about 30 min to assemble the chain/bar, because I have never done that before and the instructions don't really explain how that is done.  Not too difficult though.

At first, I couldn't start it.  But then I watched a short video on the topic.  For me, and I think the "standard" way of starting these - put the choke on, pull the starter chord till you get some resistence, then pull hard.  You might have to do this 1-2 times.  When it first starts it'll just start for a second - THEN turn off the choke, and repeat pulling the chord.  Once I did that, it started w/in 1-2 pulls.  I did this process several times, no problems after that.

I went through a tree trunk in the front yard that had fallen a few months ago within minutes, for a person who will use this saw likely 4-5 times/year, for some light cutting, a perfect device, I'm very happy. As long as of course it lasts/long-term reliability.

Great for the price

My husband has been wanting a chainsaw for a while now. He had researched many different chainsaws and kept going back to the Husqvarna. I bought this one for him for his birthday and he loves it. He's had no problems with it. He does light work with it- cutting through branches and cutting wood and it's been great. It's a great value for the price! Don't let the referbished part scare you. We purchased many referbished items (electronics and tools) and never had a problem! They look brand spankin new!

Great saw

Fabulous saw.  Unloaded itand installed the saw.  Had to go purchase gas.  It started right up on the thrird or fourth pull.  In the next three days I downed, cut up, split and stacked a half cord of wood from a walnut tree.  It stayed sharp through the whole process.  I liked the cushioning to minimize the engine vibration.

Great saw if you know what your doing

This is a great medium duty chainsaw for the homeowner and weekend lumberjack.  Has tons of power once you get it wound up.  Don't be afraid to let her scream.

1: Always Always Always use hi octace gas in any husqvarna.

2: always grease your bar tip every time you fill with gas

3: Only use air cooled 2 stroke oil to mix in.

4: run it dry or empty it if you have to use gas with ethanol in it.

5: use the husqvarna bar oil, it is not your typical 10w30 oil, it is closer to motorcycle oil with zinc which gives it better wear properties.

6: make sure that you un-set the chain brake

pretty much a cliff notes of the owners manual.

Good saw, great price

The only thing I do not like about this saw is that it is hard to start.  Once it is running it will not stop and is a great saw!

Like new, barely worn, cuts well, no problems.

I have been a believer in manufacturer-reconditioned products the last few years.  I am happy with the condition, performance, and price of this one.  No sense in paying the full price for the same thing.  My wife (105 lbs) actually used it first, and she took out the stump of a palm tree with ease!

Excellent Buy!

I forgot that this was refurbished until I saw the request for the review. It might as well have been new.

It came with a new chain and what appeared to be a new bar and the rest of it looked basically new. Like I said, I had forgotten that it was refurbished.

The last chainsaw I had was a Poulan Pro and my back would be killing me before I could get through with one tree. With this Husqvarna, I was able to cut down and cut up 4 trees before my back started complaining (I am very happy about that).

It is very easy to start and easy to assemble (just be sure and remove the plastic wedge where the bar goes, it's for shipping only).

This Husqvarna chainsaw was only about $30 more than what it would have cost me to by a Walmart Poulan (one of the cheap, heavy green ones), it is definitely worth the extra money.

I do not see any Cons to this purchase. I guess they could have sent someone to do the cutting for me. lol

Runs great, when you can start it

It had been in the shop for 3 weeks, staight out of the box. New coil, new starter assembly. 20 minutes trying to start it...ugh!

Fine...Put in an NGK plug, a 435-E version stater assembly(Fits perfert, by the way), Tuned the carb,, knocked the plug gap down to .015....It's still a moody thing. Can be hard to start....If I get the perfect mix, it pops right off.

Weak spark is all it is. The coil was replaced once..The flywheel magnets seem strong....If the plug gets wet, you're done for a few... ...

If conditions are not perfect, this saw is the biggest hassle to start.

Weak spark.

Bought this saw...comments

Received this saw from vminnovations, and when I attempted to assemble the bar and chain, I found that it was shipped with the clutch brake mechanism "NOT" engaged with the brake bar, and when I removed the clutch cover plate, the spring loaded clutch brake mechanism snapped to the fully sprung position. It took me forever to get it repositioned because the spring is very strong, and it's a two-person job.  Finally got it done and assembled.  Worked great (at least started, and bar oiler worked fine) as far as starting and running.  Have not actually cut anything with it yet.  Will report back if I find it to work anything but perfectly.

Runs like a champ, ones it's started

I have to say the service from VM has been great. They took took care of all my concerns/issues without question. I highly recommend this vendor.

Husqvarna, on the other hand, has been quite a let down. I understand...you buy "recertified", you take a risk to save $.

The saw showed up on time...Couldn't start it to save my life. It sat in the repair shop for 3 1/2 weeks. Finally brought it home "ready to go"...I spent 20 minutes trying to start that POS...

I started over. NGK Non-resistor  plug, splined carb tuning tool....

You'd think the "Authorized service Center" guys might tune it in..What a joke.

I put in a BPM7Y NGK Non-resistor plug, Tuned the HI and LOW...It runs great now...

I also noticed the starter assembly for the 435 is a POS. Slap and release...You can't even get a good pull on the motor.

I ordered the starter assembly for the 435-E. They both use the same flywheel...?

If it works, I'll let you know....

Husqvarna 435 chainsaw.

I expected the saw to work as it is supposed to for a much longer time period than it did. Although it is light and easy to handle,as it stands now, I would be very hesitant to buy another Husqvarna product; especially a factory refurbished unit.
