great deal for the money

Used the trimmer head for medium to heavy weeds & vines. Also used it with a pole saw & extender from my old Troy Bilt. It has plenty of power for for both attachments

Setup could be done by most 6 year olds with good reading skills. This thing starts with a minimum of fuss when cold, and is a 1 pull start when warm. The pull start is smooth & easy unlike the arm breaker pull on the Husqvarna 128 LD I test drove. The attachments are a quick and easy on and off with no tools.

The only "potential" downside is that the trimmer head is all plastic. While it worked graet for the few hours I used it. I don't expect that durability will be it's long suit. However replacements are inexpensive and readily available, and hell at this price just buy a whole new unit every year.

P.S. Consumer Reports put this rig in their top 20 with over all good to excellent ratings

BARGAIN!! GREAT DEAL!!

GREAT PRODUCT AT A PRICE THAT ALMOST MAKES THIS WEEDEATER DISPOSABLE. WE MOW AND WEEDEAT ABOUT 15 PROPERTIES PER MONTH AND OWN 4 OF THESE WEEDEATERS. I USE DIFFERENT HEADS ON EACH ONE. THESE WEEDEATERS HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO RUN A 3 METAL BLADED GRASS GATOR HEAD OR 4 LINE GRASS GATOR HEADS WITH 105 LINE.

KEEP THE GAS FRESH IN THESE WEEDEATERS(AS WITH ANY SMALL ENGINE) AND YOU SHOULD HAVE LITTLE PROBLEMS.

best deal for trimmer

This trimmer was priced much lower than any othe Ryobi online. It works very well and will probably last 4 - 5 years. It's lighter than most gasoline trimmers and not as poluting. It was exactly what I hoped it would be.

Won't Start After Once Season

I purchased the Ryobi RY26500 one year ago when my old homelite gave up on me. It was hard to start when I first got it, but a little starter fluid did the trick. I used the Ryobi trimmer for half a season then I used it 3 times this season. I went to start is a few weeks ago and it wouldn't start. I did some troubleshooting since I have some knowledge of small engines. The engine is getting spark, fuel, and the compression is good. I checked the intake and exhaust for obstructions and I even took the carb apart to see if it was gunked up. Everythins looks good. It won't even start with starter fluid. This seems to be a problem with this trimmer. I am reading many reports of people having starting problems. VMInnovations won't help with return or replacement since the trimmer only comes with a 90 day warranty. They have told me to contact the manufacturer.

Highly Recommended Value

Item shipped within 4 hours or order!!!!!!!!!  Received the next day (less than 24 hours after ordering)  and live approximately 300 miles from Lincoln.  I have bought items before that were refurbished from VMI and have not had a problem.  Unit was easy to put together and started after 3rd pull.  Would recommend that you change the supplied trimmer line as it is a cheap round line.  I mow commercially and this unit is a back up.  Excellent price and value,  The shafts are 60 inch but more like a 52 inch curved shaft trimmer with the large radius of the curve.

You get what you pay for...

I bought this same, exact model at the end of the last summer. I used it a few times before the rains came, drained it and cleaned it, and put it away. When I began using it this summer, it stopped working. Although the motor works, the attachment snapped after about six uses. Even though I have only used it a handful of times, it is out of warranty (90 days refurb). That's why they sell them so cheap at the end of the season. It is unfixable, and a new attachment costs $40. You are better off buying new.

6 days to my door

I ordered this to replace a broken (engine wouldn't start) 30cc Ryobi straight shaft trimmer.

I replaced the curved shaft with the old straight shaft. That's me.....you might like the cuirved shaft style. So anyway, I'll be putting the new curve shaft in "reserve." And, BTW the curve shaft was actually NEW with NEW string.

The refurbished part......was the power head. In fact, the power head was marked "RECON" melted into the plastic. Then, the plastic surrounding the exhaust port was also melted (IMHO, design issue). But, both issues aren't a big deal to me.

So at any rate, I gassed it up and the pulled the cord. Viola....it works so far. There is a one year limited warranty. I just hope I don't have to use it anytime soon

Pros

Cons
  • Bad Design
  • The plastic is already melted near the exhaust port.

astounding service.
During my search for a quality trimmer, I found VMI...from that moment, until FAST delivery of the item...I was VERY, VERY pleased with the entire experience. I haven't "used" my trimmer yet (it's November in Pennsylvania), but anticipate registering it at Ryobi. My "customer service" experience was ASTOUNDING...I called them to discuss the item (VERY helpful), I looked for a "promo code" on the 'net (found one), and proceeded to purchase the item online (BEST PRICE ANYWHERE), AND got 5% off the price ta' boot (basically covered the shipping)...this is the best part...I ordered the item at about 2 PM...and the VERY NEXT DAY, it arrived at my house by 2 PM...WOW...I assembled it and anticipate a high quality machine (as RYOBI is)...and on all these factors alone, I am very pleased with my purchase. Thank you VMI Innovations...I shall return to you, when needed.

Good trimmer with minor drawbacks.

When I recieved this trimmer it didn't want to start. I primed it and adjusted the choke just as the instructions say. I ended up spraying some starter fluid into the carberator and it came to life. The trimmer starts every time now. I guess priming the carb wasn't enough. Now that the unit has had a tank of gas though it the trimmer starts every time as instructed. The trimmer is much lighter than my old homelite and the curved shaft makes it very comfortable to use on my large lot. It has a nice safty latch on the handle and the kill switch is right next to the thumb. It is a little under powered and gets bogged down in thick grass. But it is perfect for regular trimming. If you want to handle heavy brush you will need something more heavy duty. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the initial starting issue.

For the price, it is tough to beat

First off, the service was great. I received the weedeater within a few days of ordering it. It was packaged well and easy to put together. The one I received looked brand new. After putting the gas in, it cranked up after 3 pulls. I have used it three times thus far and that has been the case each time. I am very satisfied with my purchase, and I won't hesitate to make future purchases from vminnovations.

GG's review

VMInnovations quickly replaced the first trimmer they sent me because I could not get it started. The replacement started easily. It looks new and was well packaged and easy to assemble. I use it for weed eating and edging. I also have a hedge trimmer, and roto-tiller attachment which works with it. I only received it a few days ago and have not put it through its paces. But it started and ran well so I don't expect any problems. I had to replace my 5 year old Ryobi because I let the gas mixture stay in it off season and I think it clogged the carburetor. It was cheaper to buy the reconditioned one thru VMInnovations then to get the old one repaired!
