Save the money on the rentals and buy this instead
I looked into renting one for a patio and 2 sidewalk installations and by the time I was complete, I would have spent more in rentals than buying this instead. What are the benefits of owning it?...for one, you work at your own pace and not the rental clock...two; you can use it to flatten high spots in the yard. The size is compact and it's not too ridiculously heavy but it works. A detail that might not seem too necessary but is most certainly a GREAT feature is that it comes with a set of wheels that help you to transport it. The design again, it's pretty well thought out and executed nicely. The handles are isolated from vibration and also fold up for storage making it very compact. Now, it would have been nice if it had the paver pad included but I am pretty sure I can get a piece of poly and make one so it can be run over pavers to help final setting with sand. So far, I have used it for about 16 hours and it has already just about paid for itself. The one issue I have with this unit is the throttle will not stick so the hands can be free and I will be in the search for one that will work much better.
Would I recommend this to a friend or family member? Yes
Pros
  • Easy to Use
  • Simple to Set Up
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • throttle will not stick open...must keep hand on it at all times
  • no paver pad included
