Good idea, flawed design.
Design is flawed. The fixed wheels don't lift the base as high as the casters do, leaving the base higher on one side than the other. Lowering the feet to make the base immobile exacerbates the problem. It appears that the 3" fixed wheels should be closer to 3 3/4" in diameter (or the mounting brackets should be welded about 3/8" lower on the frame) to ensure the base is level when immobilized. On my saw, this causes problems with torquing the extension table, causing it not to be level with the saw and affecting cut accuracy. It's also annoying and possibly unsafe to have to work on an angle. Because I had to make modifications to the base to get it to fit my 36" saw extension (evidently it's designed for a 52" saw extension), it was nonreturnable; otherwise I would have returned it in exchange for the PM-3550 mobile base plus the PM-3245 extension. The 3550 mobile base has casters at all 4 corners (no fixed wheels), which should keep the base level at all times and gives the added benefit of two extra immobilization feet. Yes, it costs more, but eliminating the inconvenience of lifting and blocking the rear wheels every time I move the saw would've been worth the extra cost. Wish I'd have known this before I ordered.
