I had tested this trimmer model before so I knew what it was like before I got it, My friend paid $200 for his and I seen that the cutting bar was better than hedge trimmers of similar class. The only issue I had was the fuel pick up line was a little short and the filter was right next to the fuel inlet inside the fuel tank, but I fixed that issue by adding a longer fuel line so the fuel would pick up better. No problem though just a $1.30 peice of fuel hose fixed that and after the first tank of fuel I had to make a minor carburetor adjustment both low and high. It is easy to do if have the pac man tool for the Ruing carbs.
This Ryobi hedge trimmer does a great job on shaping bushes of all types. It cuts cleanly and effortlessly and has plenty of power to spare. The unit is easy to handle and the abilty to adjust the handle to different positions really helps keep a straight line on the hedges. The ryobi hedge trimmer also looks good and is easy to maintain. It doesn't have an air filter but a small piece of small engine filter foam can be used to make a nice air filter and easily fix that issue. I am not sure why this manufacturer decided not to install an air filter because that extends the life of the engine and carburetor.
I would recommend this Ryobi hedge Trimmer to anyone needing a medium use trimmer. It helps you do a professional trimming job at a great value. These units have been used before so they may not be perfect, but mine was in great shape and looked brand new. Not one scratch on it. I have used those other brands in the same class as the Ryobi and the blade vibrates and moves around because their blades are so cheap. These ryobi units are much stronger and can be used semi pro if one needed to.
A good little machine at a great value
It looked brand new out of the box and as I was unboxing it I kept thinking about what a great deal I got. Of course, reality soon set in after I started it and it wouldn't run. It would start and soon die. After consulting the Google I found that a lot of other owners of this particular trimmer were having issues with the carb adjustments. After much trial and error I finally got it to stay running, even though I did not have the special tool required to make the adjustments.
I was very disappointed. I understand this is a refurb unit, however I would expect at a minimum that it work correctly out of the box. Unless you have some technical skills I would suggest you steer clear of this unit.
