I bought these headphones to use in my home recording studio. As a professional video editor, I need to hear every nuance to every sound I record and mix-- these headphones suit my needs perfectly and have saved me hundreds over buying new Sony, Sure, or other Sennheiser headphones. I don't think they'd be very good for DJ's, but for the home studio, they're incredible.
FIrst let me say that I bought these for 27.00 refurbished. This review is based upon that price.
I don't know what the noise cancelling is about as they are listed. They are not listed as such by the MFG. and certainly not active noise cancelling.
They are good quality however and do a good job of sound reproduction. They are very flat in that they have no tone adjustments or bass boost or such things so one volume and what you hear is the true sound of what you are listening to. This is not necessarily bad though, just a fact.
The ear muffs fit well and are comfortable to wear. They do block out most outside noise due to a good seal to the ear.
They are not heavy duty construction but adequate. They have a cord with both 1/4 inch phone adapter over 3.5mm jack both gold plated which is good and adds to versatility. The cord is not very long however so unless close to the device being listened to one will need an extension.
All in all for the price they were worth the 27 bucks due to being a good brand, sealing well, and having accurate sound reproduction. Just do not expect any noise cancelling functions. Really any noise cancelling headphones that really work other than for use on aircraft where there is only one frequency needing to be cancelled such as jet engine noise one will have to spend at least 200.00 minimum to have headphones with active noise cancelling that will be worth purchasing for that feature.
If am happy with them for the price I paid. They are on the low end of this brand so that is what you can expect.
No real features but adequate construction and good ear comfort and good sound reproduction make them a good choice for inexpensive headphones, at least at the price I paid. I do not like in ear type phones so these work without ear discomfort for me. If you want more features or better construction or even more attention paid to construction of the ear muffs then you may want to shell out the extra money and step up to a higher end model. If you want something that will sound good and be comfortable for a low price and lack of featurs does not bother you then these will work well.
Bought these so my wife could listen to her computer while I was making noise. She loves them. The sound cancellation works perfectly for her. The only complaint is that the wire is too thin a guage and concerns me.
I'm not an audiophile, but I love Sennheiser headphones. After spending time w/ my HD 595s, I decided to pick these up as a knock-about house set of headphones. Even though they're refurbished, they're good as new. And the sound is high quality as well. They're very comfortable whether I'm wearing them while watching a movie on my iPad in bed, listening to music on my iPod, or looking at videos on the kitchen computer. A good choice for anyone, especially those just getting into audio and wanting to experience a good value in headphones.
Picky son wanted high end head phones and he loves these.. so if 19 year old likes them and are cool enough..I guess they are..
Good sound quality and good built, not fully noise cancelling but it is nice for the price.
Very good price for the quality, it was a good experience to shopping with vminnovation.
Even though it's a refurbished 428 but looks like a brand new one and the quality is good.
Great headphones. Cord is a little short and low quality, but everything else about it is great.
THis is factory refurbished by senheiser ,not some thrid party outlet .First rate quality .Everything feels quite solid.I wouldnt worry about this thing breaking .A 1/4 to 1/8 conversion plug is included too.
Sound is what you would expect from closed cans. Not feeling any muddiness and my iDevice and phone seem to drive it loud enough .Its biased towards bass but not in a beats kinda way . I like it and would buy again.
Fits perfectly. Sounds great, for such a cheap price the noise cancellation is enough.
This was the first time I bought something on Brad Deals and these headphones were priced fantastic. I was a bit anxious to try them out because the pricing was so good, and the headphones work wonderfully!
Great deal if you don't mind refurbished products. Sennheiser is an excellent brand.
*disclaimer: i am not an audiophile
These headphones are really good. Previously I had the hd 202 and I thought those were the best headphones ever. Then I got this pair and the ear muffs are bigger my ears actually fit completely. It doesn't block out as much sound as the 202 but the sound quality is better. I like it a lot, as for mids/highs/lows/bass I really don't know what to say about that because I am not an audiophile lol
Sound quality is excellent for the price.
the swivels feel flimsly. These will stay on my desk, and not be transported often. If you're prone to breaking headphones, or want a pair to take with you and throw in your bag, these probalby aren't it.
also, the cable is extremely short; about 3.5 feet. no big deal though, have a 6 foot extension cable laying around that makes it perfect for listening to the computer.
Would buy again, if I need a pair of quality sounding headphones at a good price.
Try 'em you will like 'em. Great treble, even better bass; works in every application I have tried. The inside of my home kinda resembles an electronic superstore, I have tried most all applications. They are great headphones.
It is not worth the price…I will not recommend any one to buy this product
These phones are not noise cancelling like models made by Bose and others that use active circuitry. Rather they are very good ISOLATING headphones, meaning that they do a good job of blocking out the outside world. Like most Sennheiser phones the sound is outstanding. The comfort is also excellent. Great value if you're looking for closed ear (circumaural) headphones. I can't tell what is 'refurb' about them - - they were as new.
