The saw did not arrive in the condition I thought it should have. I have purchased refurbished Makita and Dewalt tools and they performed as if purchased new. The Husqvarna saw arrived and I could not get the clutch cover off. Also some plastic parts should excessive wear that I would have thought a refurbishment would have replaced
This is a very good Chainsaw for a home owner/land owner. If and when you remove the bar and chain, make sure the Chainbrake is UNLOCKED. this is very importent, otherwise you will be fighting with the side cover for an hour or more to unlock it!
Very nice saw, and still a very good deal. I would buy it again for certain. However, don't let the picture fool you. While the saw is refurbished, and will look like new, the bar you will get is a refurb as well, and arrives in handpainted primer gray. Mine was still in good condition. The chain also is a resharpened refurb. This is where I had my issue. While the blade was sharp it was stretched to the point that it would no longer fit on the saw. Thus, I had to buy a new one locally, for about $30. Again, I still love the saw, and don't think you can beat this deal, shipping is fast and everything else with it is great, just keep in mind you are not getting a shiny new bar and chain. Most importantly, that the chain, while sharp, might be stretched too far to work. For those curious, the numbers on the chain match the replacement, as does the link count. After this initial frustration, the saw is a beast, and starts and operates very well.
This saw kicks butt. used it hard all day without any problems. service from vminnovations was outstanding.
I have been using chainsaws for over 30 yrs. I started climbing in New orleans in 83 for Davey tree. they used the old homelite xl 12's.
I started using stihl in the late 80's but the last one I owned just did not measure up...I borrowed a Husky to finish up the job my stihl let me down on...When it came time to purchase I went with this saw for stump removals. It didn't cut as well as i liked so I ordered a skip tooth chain for it and it really does a great job. cuts wood like a hot butter knife on butter.
This saw is commercial quality. It has huge power and cuts smooth,it will handle any wood with ease. The service and shipping was amazing.
We have a ranch with lots of trees. The chain saw does a great job cutting down the dead trees for firewood and trimming the others. My prior saw was a Craftsman made in China; it was hard to start and leaked bar/chain oil when stored. I have not experienced any negative problems with this refurbished Husqvarna. I would have saved myself alot of headaches and money if I had purchased this saw in the first place. Also, I felt it was a fair price for a quality refurbished chain saw that works so well.
Pro: Powerful, most saws create sawdust, this one makes wood chips! Easy to start and operate as described.
Con: Should include a scabbard like a new one.
Just received the package 5 Days ago. and it looked great out of the box!
You could see signs of prior usage, But unnoticeable at 5'.

already hacked-up a huge willow! Awesome buy!
THE 455R is a RUGGED FORESTRY TOOL. MY 455R was used for PROFESSIONALLY FELLING ,LIMBING ,BUCKING. I like the RELIABLITY & QUALITY of the 455R, for ( ME ) a sutiable fit . -*DO NOT BUY BIG NAMES* NOT WHAT is popular . buy what will best fit (YOUR) needs .
I have cut two pickup loads of wood so far. Saw cuts like a champ. I hope it will last in the long run. Only draw back is it is mostly plastic. All other saws I own are older but made of metal.
Dear Sirs
I order the Husqvarna 455 Rancher on Friday 11-25-2011 and received it on the following Wednesday. Thank you very much for such a quick delivery. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try it out until today which is Friday again. After putting in the correct gas mix and chain oil it started right up, no problems. The recent winds had blown down a couple large limbs from one of the trees out back, so I had a good excuse to try out this new beast. Believe me it did NOT take long to have a pile of eighteen inch logs cut up. This saw runs like a stripped assed ape does through butter. Turned out to be a sweet deal for me when someone was so foolish as to return it back to the dealer. The only reason I can think of someone doing such a thing like that is, the Husky was to much saw for them. I’ve cut wood since 1978, the Husky is a highly dependable saw.

If it didnt come in a box saying it was refurbished I wouldn't have known it was other than the primerd bar, this thing looks and runs like new! cut 3 loads of hardwood today giving it a good work out and workd flawless just as expected!!! I will for sure be shopping here in the future for saws. I couldnt be happier, Thanks vminovations for the great deal!!!!!!!
Husky chainsaw advertised as:
"Factory renewed to original condition HUSQVARNA 455R Gas Chainsaw
This item was refurbished by the manufacturer to the original condition and is guaranteed to meet or exceed specifications and performance of a brand new unit!"
Reality: dirty air fliter, dull chain, clogged oiler, clutch caked with crap. Caburateur compartment full of dirt. I would AT LEAST expect it to be blown out with a compressor to give the illusion of someone having looked it over. I think they took a returned item, boxed it up with no service and sold it as refurbished.
Thankfully the saw runs fine - no complaints there, the saw is great - but 'original condition' light years from the truth!
Really fast shipping. The saw was pretty clean except for the air cleaner. The spocket & chain were brand new.
Runs fine & starts one pull when hot!
I'd buy it again from VM since I saved about $85 off a new one from eBay or $144 at Lowes.
This saw needed carb replacement, which was covered under Husqvarna warranty. The saw:1) heavy, 2) cuts very well, 3) starts well (after carb replacement) and following directions EXPLICITY!, 4) has a lot of plastics, which may prove to be a durability issue over time.
VMINNOVATIONs appears to be a reputable and customer oriented organization. I will use their services again.
Cosmetically perfect refurb
bar in excellent shape, chain looks OK (although used)
hard starting, after following instructions carefully.
If it starts, runs very rough
just notified VMINNOVATIONS (10/2/2015)...we'll see what can be worked out :-)
stay tuned for followup review
Very happy with saw, price, & prompt delivery. Needed a larger saw to make log cutting a little easier, although saw is heavy; the weight is very usefull when cutting large & dry logs. Husqvarna is a great product, can't tell it is refurbished!
i have cut two pickup loads of wood now with my refurbished husquvarna 455 rancher. this chain saw works very well. the chainsaw came packaged very nice, looks like new. great saw for the price. hope it gives me years of good service.
I LOVE my new saw. Very happy - it's everything that I hoped it would be. I looked it over upon arrival and could not tell that it was refurbished. The bar was new, the chain was new -- there was no wear that I could distinguish at all. Runs and operates very well.
Appreciated the easy to use website and quick turn around time. We received what we ordered within a few days. probably the fasted delivery to date for us. thanks again.
Great product. Easy start. One con is that the bar oil doesn't seem to keep the chain lubricated enough, even though the adjustment is set to max.
Husky makes a great product. It was almost impossible to tell that this was a factory reconditioned product it looked brand new. The saw was very easy to assemble and started on the third pull. This saw is a powerhouse the 55cc engine and 20 inch bar takes on any tree I throw at it. I have to say this was the deal of the year, great price and great quality.
Absolutely exceeded my expectations. Purchased after Hurricane Sandy and has performed flawlessly. Have felled numerous monster trees and cut up countless others. My new favorite thing!
Bought a refurbished Rancher to supplement my 20+ yr old Husqvarna 55 (which is still running well, but was showing some signs of age). The new saw was shipped promptly and arrived with a new blade and bar. The only signs of use were some light scuffs on the bottom of the plastic housing. A copy of the operators manual was included. The rancher started right up and I have run about 8 tanks of gas cutting fire wood. Compared to my old saw, this one is quieter and starts easier. Very happy with the purchase so far and hope it runs as trouble free as my Husky 55.
Easy Start, and works for you, not you working for the saw. Cutting big trees for woodstove heating is a breeze and does not wear you out. Worth every penny, best investment I ever made.
carb was out of tune when i got it but you can you tube how to tune these it only takes a few minutes and after that it ran great with excellent power i put a carslile chain on it right off the bat because i have a little 235 and the chain on that was junk i put a stihl chisel and it cut about 3 times as fast so i did the same on this and it cuts like a beast no special tools needed for the carb on this unlike my 235 also the gas tank and oil reservoir are way bigger so you can cut about 3 times as much wood on a tank of gas i use my little one for trimming and this one for the anything 3 or 4 inches plus since it is way faster. i would recommend this over the 235 by far it is heavier but you can cut in 2 hours with this what you could in 3 to 4 with the other nice combo of power and speed i could only see wanting a bigger saw if you were a pro or used wood as a primary heat source for a person cutting just a couple truckloads a year this saw is a beast for its price to go much bigger you spend big bucks not sure about the price though when i got mine it was only like 280 and i had a coupon code so i got it for like 260 or somethin like that. but for the 20 bucks you would spend on a premium chain i would recommend puting one on right out of the box they cut way better than a factory chain. also if you are not comfortable tunig it yourself you can bring them to a small engine shop and get them done for about 35 bucks my 235 wasnt tuned right either and if a carb is running lean it will burn up your engine real fast so be sure to tune it or have someone tune it better a little rich than lean it should sputter a little bit when held wide open if its right if it just races it sounds great but it is too lean and will burn down fast there is a good video on you tube that matches up with the factory instructions.
Very impressed with VMinnovations. Been looking for this saw at lots of stores and sites and very happy with the price here! Shipping was faster than estimated and that was coming across the country. Would highly recommend.
I use this saw for cutting firewood every week for the past couple of months. I wish I had bought this chainsaw years ago! The best chainsaw that I've ever owned.
We use wood heat almost exclusively and a good chainsaw is must have for cutting trees. The price was right, it arrived quickly, and worked well initially. We did have to take it in for a minor repair after one week, as the oil line was not reattached well inside the saw. It was a refurbish, and apparently someone was in a hurry. We couldn't get inside to reattach the line ourselves, but the shop we took it to had it done almost immediately, and the minimal cost was covered under warranty. Overall, we are very happy with this company and this product.
We are building a camp and clearing land My son bought a new saw. I purchased a refurbished saw for almost one half price and we cannot tell whose is whose. Cosmetic and mechanical
Just like my old husqvarna 51. Started without a problem, and restarted on one pull!! I owned another brand, which was hard to start. Cuts like a champ, and I am glad I bought this saw. I am a home owner who cleared my own property with a hus.51 and now putting the finishing touchs on my farm with 455 rancher.
What I was surprised about is when it was delivered it came with a NEW bar and NEW chain !!
we live in alaska and burn ten cords of wood a year so we cut a lot of wood. My fourteen year old wanted a larger name brand saw but he did not want the big price. the saw he received was in mint condition and far exceeded his expectations.it is likely he will be a repeat customer.
After buying and installing a new chain this saw cuts through huge oak trees like butter.
The chainsaw I have used for years cutting wood for our home heat and around our home finally gave out.....had it since 1980. I could not afford a new saw at this time so looked into refurbished and was drawn to the Husky through my friends who love the ones they use. The price was right, I received it very quickly, and was very pleased with the looks of the saw.....looked new. I had a little trouble getting the saw blade on but it is set up a little different than my old saw. Took it out first weekend I got it and cut a chord of wood....worked fine until the chain came off during cutting. Got it home and replaced the chain......minor adjustments and have used it successfully since then with no more trouble. I am very pleased with my purchase and the saw seems to be everything I need at a price I can afford.
From very helpful customer service to an as new condition item I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
I was looking for the best price and got it. I only hoped the chainsaw was as good as it's description. The Husqvarna Rancher (refurb) operated perfectly right out of the box. I saw no scratches on the case or the bar. The chain appeared new in a plastc bag. I would saw it was an 85 out of 100. The remaining 15 points I withdraw because the chain although it looked new was not sharp. I bought a new chain and the saw worked better than expected. I would buy it again and recommend to a friend.
Received on time and as advertised. A few problem were caused by my misreading setup instructions. Once I was able to remove the clutch cover plate to install the bar and chain the machine worked very well. Found that the brake had to be forcefully disengaged in order to remove the cover plate. Once that was done I was able to complete the rest of the setup.
On first use I was very pleased with the quality and power of the saw.
After purchases 3 other "used" chainsaw and all of them having issues of one type or another, I finally broke down and purchased a Husky. Even though the Husky was reconditioned, it was delivered in better shape then what I've purchased prior. The chainsaw worked great and was easy to start ( just as promised in their ad ). After 3 long sessions of using the chainsaw, I had a minor issue - the pull cord did not engage the engine. It just pulled out and recoiled, but did not start the saw. After a quick call to VMInnovations, their supplied me with multiple shops in my area that would fix the saw without cost to me. Three days later, the saw was back to me and working great. I truly am very happy with VMInnovations and the Husky 455R chainsaw.
I had not heard of VMInnovations so I did some homework and I decided the price for this refurbised 455 Rancher was very fair and worth taking a chance. I am more than satisfied with my purchase! The shipping was outstanding!! I ordered it on 11/14/12 at 12:40pm and received it in Southwest Missouri on 11/15/12 by about 3:00pm!! I was amazed to say the least. You must remember however, this is a REFURBISHED saw not a new one. The saw I received was very clean and has many new parts, including the bar and chain, but you can tell it has been used in the past. I have not used this paticular saw yet but I used one like it years ago as a tree trimmer. I ran over the one I used back then with a 2 ton bucket truck while clearing a powerline right of way. It smashed it in the dirt, bent the handle and cracked some of the plastic but I was able to straighten the handle and continue using it for the rest of the week. Many of the negative reviews I have read lead me to believe that most problems mentioned are caused by operator error rather than faulty equipment, or unrealistic expectations of what was being purchased. If you want a new saw, go buy a new one and spend more than twice as much. I fully expect this saw to perform as good or better than I expect.
the saw is a vert good buy. I recieved it intwo days, it was clean and appeared to be new. Runs and cuts very good. the only thing is the chain that came with the saw was very poor quality and only cut for a little while before it was done. overall very happy
I love the saw, but I had to buy a diiffernt chain for the bar. The chain, new husqvarna chain, kept on coming loose after it became warm even though I thighten it tight. The dealership said put a stihl chain on there and the problem will go away. I have owned a stil chain saw and a husqvarna .The husvqvarna 455 is much easier saw to start than a stihl 290 I had owned, it was stolen. Both saws in my opinion are even matched saws for cutting and size. I like the adjustable oiler on the husqvarna, and the power on both.
If had to make a choice again I would still buy a husqvarna 455 over a stihl 290, but with a stihl chain because they are preheated when manufactured for less time needed for ajustment. Any problems with the chain coming loose buy stihl chain for husqvarna 455.
I put more wear on it the first day than it had when I got it. Couldn't be happier with it. Basically a new saw at less than new price. It'd be nice if they came with a scabbard, but hey those are cheap.
